Lethal cargo destined to continue the massacre in Gaza was blocked in Piraeus

On 14 July, members of the Piraeus dockworkers’ union, along with trade unions and mass organizations in Piraeus, held a mass rally, starting early in the morning at Piers 2 and 3 in the port of Piraeus, to block the transport of military cargo to Israel.

Speaking at the rally, Markos Bekris, president of the Container Handling Workers’ Union at the Piers of Piraeus (ENEDEP) and the Piraeus Labour Centre, made it clear that the port of Piraeus would not become a staging ground for the slaughter of the Palestinian people or for involvement in imperialist wars.

“In recent days, information emerged that the ship Ever Golden was set to sail with five containers bound for Haifa. It is likely that the cargo has been transferred and is now on the Cosco Shipping Pisces, which is due to arrive on Wednesday evening. We will carry out further checks as the ENEDEP Union”, he stated. “Our hands will only be stained by our hard work, not by the blood of Palestinians. Last time, when we stopped the ship carrying bullets, we made it clear that the port will not become a hub for transporting war material, an issue that concerns us all, the entire population of the region”, he added, announcing that the protesters call for a new demonstration on Wednesday at 10 p.m. “We have a responsibility to ourselves not to become victims of war. A delegation will go to confirm that this cargo is not on the Ever Golden. We will do the same with the other ship. It is important that everyone is present. No involvement, no participation in the war! Freedom for Palestine!”, concluded M. Bekris.

Члены профсоюза портовых рабочих, а также профсоюзы и общественные организации Пирея провели ранним утром 14 июля массовый митинг на втором и третьем причалах, чтобы помешать перевозке военного груза в Израиль из порта Пирея.

 Выступая на митинге, председатель профсоюза ЭНЕДЕП (докеров Пирея), а также председатель Рабочего центра Пирея Маркос Бекрис дал ясно понять, что порт Пирей не станет плацдармом для убийства палестинского народа и участия в империалистических войнах.

По его словам, ранее поступила информация о прибытии судна Ever Golden с пятью контейнерами на борту, направляющегося в Хайфу. «Возможно, этот груз был перемещен на судно Cosco Shipping Pisces, которое прибудет в среду вечером. Профсоюз ЭНЕДЕП проведёт дополнительную проверку. Мы запачкаем наши руки только работой, а не кровью палестинцев» - сказал М. Бекрис. Он также подчеркнул, что, «когда мы в прошлый раз остановили судно со снарядами, то дали ясно понять, что порт не станет хабом транспортировки военных грузов, и этот вопрос касается всех нас, всех жителей этого района». И продолжил, сказав: «Мы назначаем новую встречу на среду в 22:00. Остаётся лишь взять ответственность перед собой, чтобы не стать жертвами войн. Наша делегация пойдет, чтобы убедиться, что этот груз не находится на борту Ever Golden». То же самое мы сделаем и в отношении другого судна. Важно присутствие каждого из нас. Никакого участия в войне, свободу Палестине», - заключил М. Бекрис.

Bloqueo al transporte de carga letal para la continuación de la masacre en Gaza

Miembros del sindicato de trabajadores portuarios del Pireo, así como de sindicatos y organizaciones de masas del Pireo realizaron el 14 de julio una concentración masiva desde primera hora de mañana en los muelles 2 y 3 en el puerto del Pireo, para bloquear el transporte de una carga militar destinada a Israel desde el puerto del Pireo.

En su intervención en la concentración Markos Bekris, presidente del sindicato ENEDEP (trabajadores portuarios del Pireo) y presidente del Centro Laboral del Pireo dejó claro que el puerto del Pireo no se convertirá en punto de partida para la masacre del pueblo de Palestina, ni para la implicación en guerras imperialistas.

“Los días anteriores, había una información de que iba a atracar el barco Ever Golden llevado 5 contenedores con destino a Haifa. Es probable que estas cargas se hayan llevado al Cosco Shipping Pisces que llegará el miércoles por la tarde. Haremos más controles de parte del sindicato ENEDEP”, destacó. Añadió que “nuestras manos las manchamos solo con nuestro trabajo, no con la sangre de los palestinos. La última vez que paramos el barco con balas dejamos claro que el puerto no se convertirá en centro de transporte de material bélico y esto es un tema que nos concierne a todos, a toda la población de la región”. A continuación añadió que “nos volveremos a reunir el miércoles a las 22.00 horas. Tenemos responsabilidad ante nosotros mismos de no convertirnos en víctimas de las guerras. Una delegación irá a confirmar que las cargas no están en el Ever Golden. Haremos lo mismo con el otro barco. La presencia de todos es importante. Ninguna implicación, ninguna participación. Libertad para Palestina”, dijo Markos Bekris concluyendo.

Mitglieder der Hafenarbeitergewerkschaft von Piräus sowie Gewerkschaften und Massenorganisationen von Piräus kamen am 14. Juli frühmorgens an den Kais 2 und 3 im Hafen von Piräus zu einer Massenkundgebung zusammen, um den Transport von Militärausrüstung in Richtung Israel zu blockieren.
 
In seiner Rede vor den Versammelten machte Markos Bekris, Vorsitzender der Hafenarbeiter-Gewerkschaft ENEDEP und Vorsitzender des Regionalen Gewerkschaftsverbands von Piräus, deutlich, "dass der Hafen von Piräus weder zum Sprungbrett für die Massakrierung des palästinensischen Volkes noch für die Verstrickung in imperialistische Kriege wird."

"In den vergangenen Tagen," erklärte er, "gab es Informationen, dass das Schiff "Ever Golden" mit fünf Containern, die für Haifa bestimmt waren, einlaufen würde. Möglicherweise wurde diese Ladung umgeladen und befindet sich nun auf der "Cosco Shipping Pisces", das am Mittwochabend eintreffen wird. Wir werden als Gewerkschaft ENEDEP weitere Kontrollen durchführen", betonte M. Bekris und fügte hinzu: "Wir lassen unsere Hände nur durch unsere Arbeit schmutzig machen, und nicht durch das Blut der Palästinenser. Wir haben deutlich gemacht, als wir das Schiff mit den Geshossen das letzte Mal gestoppt haben, dass der Hafen nicht zu einem Umschlagplatz für Kriegsmaterial werden darf. Es ist ein Thema, das uns alle betrifft, die gesamte Bevölkerung der Region." M. Bekris schloss seine Ansprache mit dem Aufruf, "dass wir uns am Mittwoch um 22 Uhr wieder treffen werden. Wir sind uns selbst gegenüber verantwortlich, nicht Opfer von Kriegen zu werden. Eine Abordnung unserer Gewerkschaft wird sich vergewissern, dass diese Ladungen nicht auf der "Ever Golden" sind. Das Gleiche werden wir auch mit dem anderen Schiff tun. Die Anwesenheit aller ist wichtig. Keine Verwicklung, keine Beteiligung! Freiheit für Palästina!".
