The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement on June 15, 2019:

India voted in favour of Israel at the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to deny a 'consultative' status to a Palestinian non-governmental organisation. This is a clear indication that the current regime headed by Mr. Narendra Modi is going against the national consensus in India supporting Palestine and it is trying to become closer to Israel government.

This move of Indian government has put India in the camp of Israel, US, France, Germany, Canada and others while China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and several others voted in favour of the Palestine body, when the vote took place on 6 June at the UN.

Palestine has been a symbol of aspirations of freedom and resistance and struggle for justice, whereas Israel is considered as an oppressor state which has immorally occupied the land of Palestinians.

The Communist Party of India criticizes the stand which India took in support of Israel and it reminds the present Indian regime that foreign policy matters should not change with the change of government.
