CPI Welcomes Disengagement to Bring the Current India-China Stand Off to an End

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has issued the following statement today (on July 7, 2020):

The Communist Party of India welcomes the telephonic conversation between Shri Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of India and H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China to initiate the disengagement of the troops along the LAC and for restoration of peace and tranquillity at India-China border areas.

The CPI considers it as a positive step for normalising the situation in our border area. While it is necessary to expedite phased and stepwise de-escalation in the India-China border areas, at the same time both the countries should respect and observe the pre-April status quo at the line of actual control.

The CPI hopes that both the countries will intensify the negotiation process to end the present stand off as early as possible and reach an amicable solution.
