Statement of solidarity with Palestinians. 

Irish Communists joined protests across Ireland today!

The unfolding genocide in Gaza, perpetrated  openly and in full view of the world by the Zionist state, lays bare the racist, violent contradictions at the heart of imperialist geopolitics. 

We are told that the massacres currently being visited on Palestinian civilians by the so-called "Israeli Defence Forces" are "normal", "necessary", or even "justified".  

As a key ally of the imperialist, white supremacist bloc of the US, Britain and the EU, the colonial ethnostate known as "Israel" appears to enjoy total impunity for its crimes, even as their depravity and brutality is exposed for the world to see. 

The silence, acquiescence and obeisance of western governments in the face of an escalating campaign of ethnic cleansing against a captive population exposes the utter futility and hypocrisy of the so-called "rules-based international order" to which our countries are supposedly party. 

In fact, today's violence can only be seen as a logical continuation of the colonial, Zionist worldview, evidenced by their minister's description of "human animals" in Gaza, which subjugates and dehumanises Palestinian people as a matter of basic principle. The first step to genocide is the denial of a people's humanity.  

The Communist Party of Ireland calls on all progressive forces to demand an end to the mass-murder, siege and blockade of Gaza, an end to the ongoing colonial violence enacted on the Palestinian people, and for the warmongerers responsible for it - in the Zionist entity, the US, Britain and the EU - to be firmly held accountable for their crimes against humanity, to ensure that this may never happen again.
