"Not suicides but murders committed by rule of capitalism"

The recent news about numerous suicides within families are shaking society in Turkey. As suicides are statistically on the rise in the country, poverty, exploitation, lack of a caring psychosocial health system are to blame.

Reacting to the suicidal loss of lives of 4 citizens in Antalya, the TKP Antalya branch released a statement referring to poverty and unemployment as two haunting themes of recent suicides.

soL news portal also released a statement, pointing that it responsibly and hence realistically presented the suicide news in accordance with the universal principles. By criticizing mainstream media outlets which reduced suicide to individual psychological problems, the soL News highlighted social problems, such as poverty, repression, over-work, and abuse, underlying the suicides. It further underlined that religiosity made such social problems invisible since religion regarded suicide as a sin and ignored it.

Return of Ottomans: Now it is Republic's turn

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), Kemal Okuyan, comments on the realization of the "Ottomanism" project of Turkey's ruling AKP and how the supporters of the Republic came into terms with this project

"At the beginning of the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, a new order, a new country was born out of another empire. The Russian Empire had been buried in history; Soviet Russia and then the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was established with totally different goals.

Representatives of the old order were in the hands of the new order, the tsar and his family were already under custody when the Bolsheviks took power. While the revolutionary government of the Russian workers and peasants shot the remains of this empire after a while, they were taking the risk to be stigmatized with the ever-present barbarism, but they had to get rid of the shadow of the empire to rule. They were freed."
