Venezuela: Thousands of teachers mobilize to demand the reinstatement of their rights

Caracas, 10-01-2023 (TP) - Thousands of teachers protested this Monday in different states of the country in the context of the return to classes. The teachers demanded salary improvements, respect for the collective contract and the repeal of instructions imposed by the National Budget Office (Onapre) to lower the income of public employees.

Pedro Eusse, general secretary of the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Venezuela (CUTV), denounced that "the State refuses to discuss the III Single and Unitary Collective Bargaining Agreement of the education sector with obscene delaying tactics, postponing the improvement of economic and social clauses, condemning the teaching personnel and all the workers who work in this sector to misery.”

In Caracas, teachers gathered outside the Ministry of Education and demanded the resignation of the minister with the slogan "Minister, listen, we want your resignation.”

Maribell Diaz, leader of the ‘Belén Sanjuan’ Front of Professionals and Technicians, reminded that "in addition to the delayed payment of the performance evaluations of the administrative and classroom personnel of the Ministry of Education, we must also add the serious deterioration of IPASME (Institute of Social Welfare and Assistance for the personnel of the Ministry of Education).”

In Barinas city, the workers of the Universidad Nacional Experimental de Los Llanos (UNELLEZ) concentrated at the doors of the university to reject the policy of salary liquidation and elimination of contractual rights.

Likewise, in Maturin state, a massive concentration in the Plaza del Estudiante called for a "Decent salary now”, arguing that the fractioned Christmas bonus payment in December was the last blow of 2022 against the teachers' income.

Government political operators tried to disqualify the protests at a national level by labeling them a destabilization attempt. In Sucre and Falcón states, teachers responded to the government by chanting: "They will not take away our right to protest" while walking the streets of Cumaná and Coro cities.

The day of struggle in the state of Anzoátegui was joined by other civil servants of the public sector and oil workers.

The CUTV and the National Front for the Struggle of the Working Class have proposed that Committees of Struggle for Wages and Other Labor Rights be conformed in each workplace to fight, together with the rest of the Venezuelan workers, to win the indexation of wages and pensions in accordance with the basic food basket, and for the defeat of the anti-popular policies.

Miles de maestros se movilizaron para exigir la restitución de sus derechos

Caracas, 10-01-2023 (Redacción TP).- Miles de docentes protestaron este lunes en distintos estados del país en el marco de la jornada de regreso a clases para exigir mejoras salariales, respeto a la convención colectiva y la derogación del instructivo impuesto por la Oficina Nacional de Presupuesto (Onapre) para rebajar los ingresos de los funcionarios de la Administración Pública.

Pedro Eusse, Secretario General de la Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Venezuela (CUTV), denunció que “con obscenas tácticas dilatorias, el Estado se niega a discutir la III Convención Colectivo Única y Unitaria del sector educación, postergando el mejoramiento de cláusulas económicas y sociales, condenando a la miseria al personal docente y al conjunto de las y los trabajadores que laboran en este sector”.

En caracas, las y los docentes se apostaron a las afueras del Ministerio de Educación y pidieron la renuncia de la titular de la cartera con la consigna “Ministra, escucha, queremos tu renuncia”.

Maribell Diaz, dirigente del Frente de Profesionales y Técnicos Belén Sanjuan, recordó que «al pago atrasado de las evaluaciones de desempeño del personal administrativo y obrero del Ministerio de Educación, se suma el grave deterioro del Ipasme (Instituto de Previsión y Asistencia Social para el personal del Ministerio de Educación)».

En Barinas, los trabajadores de la Universidad Nacional Experimental de Los Llanos (Unellez) se concentraron en las puertas de esta casa de estudio para rechazar la política de liquidación salarial y de eliminación de derechos contractuales.

Al grito de “Salario digno ya” se registró una multitudinaria concentración en la Plaza del Estudiante en Maturín y es que el pago fraccionado de los aguinaldos en diciembre fue la última estocada de 2022 contra los ingresos de los maestros.

Operadores políticos gubernamentales intentaron descalificar las protestas a nivel nacional al catalogarlas de intentos de desestabilización. En Sucre, y Falcón, mientras recorrían las calles de Cumaná y Coro, los maestros respondieron a esta línea gubernamental coreando: “No nos quitarán el derecho a protestar”.

A la jornada de lucha en el estado Anzoátegui, se sumaron otros funcionarios de la Administración Pública y trabajadores petroleros.

La CUTV y el Frente Nacional de Lucha de la Clase Trabajadora han propuesto adelantan la constitución de Comités de Lucha por el Salario y demás Derechos Laborales en cada centro de trabajo y a combatir, junto al resto de las y los trabajadores venezolanos, por conquistar la indexación de los salarios y pensiones a nivel de la canasta básica y por la derrota de las políticas antipopulares.
