Israel has continued to bombard occupied Gaza for the past few days. Over twenty Palestinians were killed. Israeli war planes and artillery has struck more than 100 sites across GAZA, totally destroying seven large residential and commercial buildings.

Since Saturday, Israel has completely closed access to Gaza territorial waters and closed all goods’ crossings.

The current escalation has been blamed on Israelis’ refusal to implement and ease the siege on Gaza in accordance with an earlier agreement.

Any return to “calm" or even if a ceasefire is reached will be short-lived without a complete lifting of the blockade on Gaza. The siege itself is a violent crime; it kills people.

The recent aggression against Gaza has come at a time when the Palestinian patriotic forces are fragmented. The only answer to this continued aggression and conspiracies against the people of Palestine is to achieve unity among the Palestinian resistance movement based on a programme of people’s resistance to the occupation. This is to be supported by all Arab and international progressive force who will stand firm behind the Palestinian struggle to liberate their homeland and establish their own independent democratic state.
