Striking Steelworkers-Unbowed, have entered the 6th month of their magnificent strike-International solidarity is a valuable support for them
A large crowd of people took part in a rally-solidarity concert last Sunday and gave new impetus and militant strength to the striking steelworkers, who have been conducting their heroic strike for 157 days, almost 6 months of struggle. At this event PAME handed over to the union’s administration the third instalment of the financial support which it has collected. At the same time, the moving wave of international class solidarity continues undiminished with financial and other assistance organized by the class oriented-militant forces from all over the world.
The solidarity message resounded with songs and the factory gate was once again flooded by working people, youth, women, and pensioners. They stood by the steelworkers, making it clear once again that “your struggle is our struggle”. And this solidarity was expresses by a series of artists and bands who proclaimed their solidarity in their own special way…
Giorgos Sifonios, President of the trade union, in his welcome speech at the concert, stressed “We are proud that we are still holding out. We are already winners, because the heroic struggle we are waging has become a beacon globally. We will be here for as long as necessary, we will fight to the end and you can be sure that we will be victorious”.
The government mocks the steelworkers’ struggle. At the same time it has showered privileges on the employers of “Greek Steelworks” and facilitated the creation of a private port. This is all very revealing. The steelworkers’ union responded to the alleged commitments of the government for a “governmental conference regarding the Steelworks” and made it clear that by the end of the week they will be faced with mass demonstrations.
Early on Monday morning, the few well-known lackeys of the employers and aspiring strike-breakers appeared at the gate and were once again provocative. They wanted to enter the factory along with the factory’s managers in order to … work. The picketlinersresponded to their strike-breaking manoeuvres decisively. The employers’ stooges withdraw without achieving anything.
It is more necessary than ever for the solidarity with the striking steelworkers to be reinforced with every form of assistance and solidarity.

В воскресение 1го апреля состоялся крупный концерт-митинг солидарности с бастующими уже 157 дней сталелитейщиками. Множество народа придали силу их героической борьбе,длящейся уже шестой месяц.На этом мероприятии Всерабочий боевой фронт (ПАМЕ) передал руководству профсоюза третью часть финансовой помощи, которую он собирает. Параллельно, трогательная волна международной классовой солидарности не ослабляется. Предоставляется денежная и другая помощь классовыми- боевыми силами со всего мира.
Классовый ритм, полный песен передал послание солидарности. Площадь у ворот завода вновь заполнилась рабочим людом, молодёжью, женщинами и пенсионерами. Они выступили на стороне сталелитейщиков, вновь заявив: «ваша борьба – это наша борьба». Особенным, музыкальным образомвыразили солидарность представители искусства и музыкальные коллективы.
«Мы горды тем, что ещё стоим. Мы уже победители, поскольку наша героическая борьба – пример всему миру. Мы будемпродолжать сколько потребуется, будем бороться до конца и уверенны, что победим» подчеркнул Гиоргос Сифониос , председатель профсоюза,открывая концерт.
Всё больше разоблачается обман сталелитейщиков правительством, которое предоставило множество льгот работодателю «Греческого сталелитейного предприятия» и способствовало созданию частного порта.Профсоюз сталелитейщиков ответил на мнимое обязательство правительства провести«правительственное совещание о сталелитейном предприятии» и заявил, что до конца недели они организуют массовые митинги.
Рано утром в понедельник 2гоапреля известные ставленники работодателей и штрейкбрехеры появились у ворот завода и вели себя вызывающим образом. Они хотели войти с директорами предприятия в завод и начать работать. Охрана забастовки решительно противостояла попыткам сорвать забастовку. Люди работодателей ушли ни с чем.
Теперьнеобходимо,более чем когда либо,усилить солидарность с бастующими сталелитейщиками, предоставляя им помощь и выказывая солидарность.

La solidaridad internacional es un apoyo valioso
El domingo pasado, una multitud de gente participó en la gran concentración-concierto de solidaridad dando un impulso y fuerza militante a los huelguistas de la Acería que continúanenhuelgapor157 días, entrando en el sexto mes de su lucha.En este evento el PAME entregó a la dirección del sindicato la tercera parte de la ayuda financiera que haconcentrado.Al mismo tiempo continúa la olaconmovedorade solidaridad clasista internacional con apoyo financiero yotro tipo de asistencia organizado por las fuerzas clasistas militantes en todo el mundo.
El mensaje de solidaridad resonó enun ambientede clase y canciones y la entrada de la fábricaquedó inundadade nuevo por obreros, jóvenes, mujeres y pensionistas.Estaban al lado de los trabajadores de la acería aclarando una vez más que “su lucha es nuestra lucha también”. Esta solidaridad fue expresada por varios artistas y grupos que declararon su solidaridad con su propiamaneraespecial.
Giorgos Sifonios en su discurso de bienvenida en el concierto dijo:“Estamos orgullosos de queaúnestamos aguantando. Ya hemos vencido, porque la lucha heroica queestamoslibrandoes unpunto de referenciaa nivel mundial.Vamos a estaraquítantocuanto sea necesario; lucharemos hasta el fin ypueden estarseguros que venceremos.”
Se ponede manifiestocada vez másque el gobierno seburla de la lucha de los obreros metalúrgicos. Al mismo tiempoha concedido numerosos privilegios a los empleadoresde la “Acería Griega”y facilitóla construcción de un puerto privado. El sindicato de los obreros metalúrgicosrespondió a los supuestos compromisos del gobiernoparauna “conferenciagubernamentalcon respecto ala Acería” ydejó claroque hasta el fin de la semana habrá nuevas concentraciones multitudinarias.
El lunes por la mañana, loslacayosconocidos de la patronal y aspirantes rompehuelgasaparecieronen la puerta de la fábricay fueron una vez más provocativos. Junto con losgerentesde la fábrica querían entrar para trabajar. Los piquetes respondieron decisivamente asusplanesderomper lahuelga.Los títeres de los empleadoresse marcharonsin lograr nada.
Es más necesario que nunca fortalecer la solidaridad con los huelguistas en la acería con todo tipo de ayuda y solidaridad.
