Solidarity With Syria
We the undersigned parties participating at the
International Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties,
held in Athens 18-10 November 2005 express our dismay over
unjustified pressure and threat directed against Syria
which remind us of the steps undertaken before the
aggression and occupation of Iraq under the pretext proved
to be false. This aggression under which the Iraqi people
are living its catastrophic consequences.
We declare our keens in reaching the truth about the
assassination of the former Prime Minister of Lebanon Mr.
Hariri, we demand the separation between the judicial
process and securing political points in this case, the
thing which will help the investigation and secure the
interests of both the Lebanese and Syrian peoples.
While we express our support and solidarity with the Syrian
people against the danger and threats and blockade, we warm
from creating a new point of tension in the inflamed Middle
East.
What the Middle East needs and what the Security Council
should provide and concentrate upon as well as devote more
efforts to achieve is the just and comprehensive peace in
the area through forcing Israel to comply with the UN
resolutions on the Middle East especially resolutions
(194,424 and 338)
It goes without saying that such a step will not only be in
the interest of peace and security in the Area, but will
also enhance world peace and security.
