Unholy positions of Swiss army chief: we take to the streets to say No to Swiss soldiers in Ukraine
They want to send our young people to war! Let's take to the streets against this madness!
Swiss Armed Forces Commander Thomas Süssli, who already in the past dreamed of sending conscripts abroad and asked parliament to change the law accordingly, is now shooting it even bigger and proposing to send 200 Swiss soldiers to get killed in Ukraine on a “peace keeping” mission.
The Communist Party has long been warning that certain Rambos in our army were preparing to play war in the service of NATO. The Swiss army should instead limit itself to defending national borders and not to endangering the lives of our conscripts in adventures abroad!
While there, Süssli adds that “Russia could be ready as early as 2027 to further destabilize Europe and let the conflict escalate.” Saying this today, when the U.S. is seeking disengagement, this is a statement contrary to neutrality and also irresponsible for our national security since it represents a good-looking provocation against a belligerent nuclear power. Süssli also mischaracterizes NATO expansionism and the crimes of the Ukrainian regime: any responsible foreign and security policy should instead strive for neutrality as a way to foster peace, and a supposed security expert like Süssli should know this.
The Communist Party opposed to these adventuristic NATO buddies who want to bring us to war is ready to take the streets. The demonstration for a truly sovereign, independent and neutral Switzerland that rediscovers the will to resolve international disputes peacefully, that ceases all military and political cooperation with NATO and against sending Swiss soldiers to Ukraine is convened on March 15 at 2:30 p.m. in Bellinzona on the square in front of the Swiss Federal Railway Station.
