CPB’s Former President Comrade Shahidullah Chowdhury Passed Away

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) with profound grief informs all fraternal parties, Comrades and Friends that eminent freedom fighter, Trade Unionist and former President of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Comrade Shahidullah Chowdhury breathed his last on 3 January 2025 at 2:30 pm at his own residence in Dhaka, Bangladesh because of old age complications. He was 84. Comrade Shahidullah Chowdhury was a legend in the trade union movement of Bangladesh. He was President of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Trade Union Center (BTUC). His extraordinary contribution in trade union movement of Bangladesh is remarkable in the history. During the dissolution of former USSR he stood firmly to protect the CPB and Marxist-Leninist ideology from the attack of liquidationists. He was one of the key organizers of the liberation struggle of 1971 against Pakistani army. His sacrifice, sufferings in the prison, unquestionable integrity and courageous leadership against communalism and imperialism is well known in the Bangladeshi society.

The Central Committee of the CPB expressed its heartfelt condolence on his demise and expressed sympathy to his saddened family.
