The new agreement on the military bases is a dangerous development that further entangles the country in the US war plans

In a press release on the amendment of the “Greece–US defence agreement” and the statements of N. Dendias and A. Blinken, the Press Office of the CC of the KKE stresses the following: 

“The so-called defence —but in reality extremely aggressive— agreement between Greece and the USA constitutes a dangerous development that further entangles our country in the US and NATO war plans in the wider region. Besides, the reference of the US Secretary of State to Greece's contribution to the war in Afghanistan foreshadows many new cases like Afghanistan, with the active participation of Greece. 

This Agreement, which was extended for 5 years and then will remain in force indefinitely, turns the entire Greek territory into a vast US–NATO imperialist stronghold, providing for the enhancement of the existing military bases, the creation of new ones, the handover of military camps, infrastructure, and other facilities for the US military needs. These plans are part of the “NATO 2030” Strategy and the redeployment of numerous military forces to Eastern Europe, with regard to competition with Russia and China. The enhancement of Alexandroupolis as a reference point for the operations and exercises of the US army also serves this objective. 

The ND government, continuing the Strategic Dialogue and the agreement with the USA initiated by the SYRIZA government, bears enormous responsibilities towards the Greek people. It turns the country against other peoples, but also into a possible target of retaliation, in the context of the sharpened competition that also takes on a military–war  character. At the same time, it fuels competition with the Turkish bourgeoisie. 

The argument that in this way “the security of the country and its borders are shielded against Turkish aggression” is completely false and misleading. The US and NATO, at the same time, are negotiating with the “allied” Turkey to detach it from Russian influence, while their main concern is to maintain cohesion in NATO's southeast wing. In this regard, the letter of the US Secretary of State, A. Blinken, regarding the support of Greece's sovereign rights and respect for international law is deceiving. Similar statements have been made in the past by the former US Secretary of State, M. Pompeo; however, not only did they not defuse the dangerous situation in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, but instead were linked to the escalation of Turkish aggression. After all, history is full of agreements and statements that remained on paper, in the framework of the constant realignment of the imperialist alliances. 

The agreement with the USA, like the corresponding one with France, ultimately serves the objective of the geostrategic enhancement of the Greek capital. For the sake of its own interests, the Greek governments take on the role of henchmen in imperialist plans and competition, exposing the Greek people to great risks. This, after all, is confirmed by the special reference to the business and trade agreements that accompany the military agreement. 

Now it is more necessary than ever to form and strengthen a large popular front, to abolish these shameful offensive agreements, to close all foreign military bases in the country, to make the Greek military missions return home from abroad, to disentangle Greece from alliances such as NATO and the EU.”

El nuevo acuerdo sobre las bases es un desarrollo peligroso que fortalece la implicación del país en los planes de guerra de Estados Unidos

El llamado acuerdo de "defensa" -pero en realidad muy agresivo- entre Grecia y Estados Unidos, constituye un desarrollo peligroso que fortalece la implicación de nuestro país en los planes de guerra de Estados Unidos y la OTAN en la región en general. Además, la referencia del Secretario de Estado estadounidense a la contribución de Grecia a la guerra de Afganistán, prescribe muchos nuevos "Afganistán" con la participación activa griega.

Con este Acuerdo, que tiene una duración de 5 años y luego se prorroga indefinidamente, todo el territorio griego se transforma en una vasta base de ataque imperialista de EE.UU-OTAN, que prevé la mejora de las bases militares existentes, la creación de nuevas, la provisión de campamentos y otra infraestructura para las necesidades militares de EE. UU. Estos planes son parte de la estrategia "OTAN 2030" y la reubicación de grandes fuerzas militares en Europa del Este, con miras a competir con Rusia y China. Este papel también es cumplido por la mejora de Alexandroupolis como punto de referencia para las operaciones y ejercicios del ejército estadounidense.

El gobierno de ND, continuando el Diálogo Estratégico y el acuerdo con Estados Unidos, inaugurado por el gobierno de SYRIZA, asume enormes responsabilidades hacia el pueblo griego. Convierte al país en un agresor de otros pueblos, pero también en un posible punto de mira de represalias, en el contexto de las rivalidades intensificadas que adquieren un carácter militar-bélico. Al mismo tiempo, alimenta la competencia con la burguesía turca.

El argumento de que de esta manera "la seguridad y las fronteras del país están protegidas contra la agresión turca" es completamente falso y engañoso. EE.UU. y la OTAN, al mismo tiempo, están regateando con su aliado, Turquía, por su desapego de la influencia rusa, mientras que su principal preocupación es mantener la cohesión en el ala sureste de la OTAN. En este sentido, la carta del secretario de Estado estadounidense, A. Blinken, sobre el apoyo a los derechos soberanos de Grecia y el respeto del derecho internacional es un intento de "arrojar polvo en los ojos". El exsecretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos, M. Pompeo, ha hecho declaraciones similares en el pasado, pero esto no solo no redujo la peligrosa situación en el mar Egeo y el Mediterráneo Oriental, pero al contrario se asoció con la escalada de la agresión turca. Después de todo, la historia está llena de acuerdos y declaraciones que "quedaron sobre el papel", en el marco del constante reordenamiento de las alianzas imperialistas.

El acuerdo con los EE.UU., así como el correspondiente con Francia, sirve  al objetivo de la mejora geoestratégica del capital griego y, en aras de sus propios intereses, los gobiernos griegos asumen el papel de "líder" en los planes imperialistas y rivalidades, exponiendo al pueblo griego a grandes riesgos. Esto, después de todo, se confirma por la referencia especial a los acuerdos comerciales que acompañan al acuerdo militar.

Es más necesario que nunca formar y fortalecer un frente popular, para abolir estos vergonzosos acuerdos ofensivos, cerrar las bases militares extranjeras en el país, devolver las misiones militares griegas desde el extranjero, retirar a Grecia de alianzas, como la OTAN y la UE. ".

إن الاتفاق الجديد بشأن القواعد هو حلقة خطيرة في توريط البلاد في خطط الحرب الأمريكية

أفاد المكتب اﻹعلامي للجنة المركزية للحزب الشيوعي اليوناني في بيان أصدره عن تعديل "اتفاقية الدفاع اليونانية الأمريكية" وتصريحات نيكوس ذِندياس و أنتوني بلينكن، بما يلي:

"تشكل الاتفاقية المسماة"دفاعية" - لكنها في الواقع شديدة العدوانية – و المبرمة بين اليونان والولايات المتحدة، حلقة خطيرة في توريط بلادنا في خطط الحرب الأمريكية و اﻷطلسية في المنطقة الأوسع. إلى جانب ذلك، فإن إشارة وزير الخارجية الأمريكية إلى عطاء اليونان المقدم في الحرب في أفغانستان، تنذر بوجود العديد من "الأفغانستانات" الجديدة بمشاركة يونانية فاعلة.

هذا و تتحول كامل أراضي اليونان عبر هذه الاتفاقية الممتدة ﻠ5 أعوام - تمدد لاحقاً إلى أجل غير مسمى- إلى نقطة انقضاض إمبريالي أمريكي أطلسي، و تنص على ترقية مستوى القواعد العسكرية الحالية، وإنشاء قواعد جديدة، وتوفير المعسكرات و البنية التحتية للحاجات العسكرية الأمريكية الأخرى.

حيث تندرج هذه الخطط في إطار استراتيجية "الناتو 2030" و إطار نقل قوى عسكرية كبيرة إلى أوروبا الشرقية، مع تركيز أنظارها على المزاحمة مع روسيا والصين. كما و يُخدم هذا الدور عِبر ترقية ألكساندروبوليس كنقطة مرجعية لعمليات وتمارين الجيش الأمريكي.

و تتحمل حكومة حزب الجمهورية الجديدة التي تواصل الحوار الاستراتيجي والاتفاقية مع الولايات المتحدة، الذين كانت قد دشنتهما حكومة سيريزا، مسؤوليات جسيمة تجاه الشعب اليوناني. و هي تحول البلاد إلى مرتكب بحق شعوب أخرى، ولكن أيضاً إلى هدف محتمل لضربات انتقامية، في سياق المزاحمات المحتدمة التي تتخذ طابعاً عسكرياً- حربياً. و تغذي في ذات الوقت مزاحمتها مع طبقة تركيا البرجوازية.

إن الحجة القائلة ﺒ"تحصين أمن البلاد وحدودها من العدوان التركي" بهذا اﻷسلوب هي حجة واهية ومضللة بنحو بعيد. و ذلك ساعة قيام الولايات المتحدة وحلف شمال الأطلسي، في ذات الوقت بالمساومة مع تركيا "الحليفة" من أجل فكاكها عن النفوذ الروسي، في حين يتمثل همهما الرئيسي في الحفاظ على تماسك الجناح الجنوبي الشرقي لحلف الناتو. و من هذا الرأي، فإن رسالة وزير خارجية الولايات المتحدة، أنتوني بلينكين، بشأن دعم الحقوق السيادية لليونان واحترام القانون الدولي هي "ذر للرماد في العيون". حيث كانت تصريحات مماثلة قد صدرت في الماضي عن وزير الخارجية الأمريكي الأسبق، مايك بومبيو، و مع ذلك، فإن ذلك لم يقلل من خطورة الوضع في بحر إيجه و شرق المتوسط، بل على النقيض من ذلك، ارتبط بتصعيد العدوانية التركية. و في كل حال، فإن التاريخ مليء باتفاقات و بيانات "بقيت حبراً على الورق" في سياق إعادة الترتيب المستمر للتحالفات الإمبريالية.

إن الاتفاقية المبرمة مع الولايات المتحدة كما و مثيلتها مع فرنسا، تخدم في النهاية هدف الترقية الجيوستراتيجية للرأسمال اليوناني و من أجل مصالحه الخاصة، تتولى الحكومات اليونانية دور "الوكيل اﻷول" في المخططات والمزاحمات الإمبريالية، معرِّضة الشعب اليوناني لمخاطر كبيرة. و هو ما تؤكده في كل حال الإشارة الخاصة إلى اتفاقيات الأعمال والتجارة المرفقة مع الاتفاقية العسكرية.

لقد غدى من الضروري أكثر من أي وقت مضى تشكيل و تعزيز جبهة شعبية شاملة، من أجل إلغاء هذه الاتفاقيات العدوانية المخزية، وإغلاق القواعد العسكرية الأجنبية في البلاد، وإعادة البعثات العسكرية اليونانية من الخارج، و فك ارتباط اليونان عن تحالفات كالناتو والاتحاد الأوروبي".
