The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement congratulating the three winners of Nobel Prize for Economics:

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India congratulates India-born American economist Prof. Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Prof Esther Duflo and Prof. Michael Kremer on their getting awarded on October 14, 2019 the Nobel Economics Prize for their work in fight against poverty, including novel initiatives in education and health-care. Their research has, over the last two decades, helped obtain reliable answers about the best ways to fight global poverty.

The Party notes that fighting poverty is a great challenge facing the world and India and the work of these Nobel Laureates will certainly be of great help in this regard.

Prof. Banerjee is an alumni of JNU, the institution which the Narendra Modi government and RSS-BJP want to defame and destroy. The Party notes with great satisfaction and feels proud that an Indian-born professor has won the prestigious award. As world is facing slowdown and rising inequality, removal of poverty needs special focus and the Nobel prize-winning work of the trio will contribute a lot towards that.
