Centre Must Ensure Enough Oxygen and Free Supply of Vaccine:  CPI

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (on April 26, 2021) urging the central government to ensure enough oxygen and free supply of vaccine:

The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic has reached an alarming situation and is turning worse everyday. Hospitals are being forced to turn away the patients as there is not enough oxygen to meet their needs. Similarly, there is acute shortage of vaccines which is a crucial component in containing the unprecedented spread of the disease.

The Party feels that the central government must fully support the state governments’ efforts to save the precious human lives without picking up any kind of differences.

The Centre must ensure enough supply of oxygen as well as free vaccination to all. The public sector drug companies must be encouraged to step up production while at the same time strictly disallowing private companies from making huge profits by charging exorbitantly. In this period of crisis, the government should not hesitate to take over the private vaccine and oxygen producing companies to ensure free supply of vaccines and proper medical care to all.
