Dear Comrades,

 As a reaction to our strong state wide protest against CAA and NRC, on 25th December 2019, around 1.00am some miscreants have tried to set our party state head quarters, Ghate Bhavan, on fire. They fired the office using petrol bombs in which our office has been partly damaged and six vehicles were burnt completely. This brutal incident was filmed by the miscreants themselves and the video has been leaked to various social media groups. It is said that the miscreants came on a Bullet motorcycle, jumped the compound and executed the attack. It is our opinion that this dastardly attack on the party headquarters has to be seen and understood in the context of our party’s spirited resistance to the CAA & NRC proposed by the Central BJP government, wherein CPI cadres have courted arrests in protest across the state. This is a direct attack on democratic rights and the right to dissent.

       In response to this attack we protested across Karnataka in various places such as Bengaluru, Bellary, Harapanahalli, Davanagere, Kalaburgi, Tumkur and other districts. All the left parties took part in this protest. In Bangalore, our protest was covered by National media like India Today, NDTV, Aaj Tak and regional media like Public TV, Digvijaya news, Suvarna news, Kasturi news, TV9, TV5, News18 Kannada,etc. The photos and videos of the protest will be sent soon.
