Resolution on CPI Strongly Condemns Pahalgam Terror Attack in J&K
The National Executive of the Communist Party of India in its meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram chaired by Com. Binoy Viswam, Kerala State Secretary of the Party issued the following statement today (April 23, 2025):
(The resolution was moved by CPI General Secretary D. Raja)
The Communist Party of India strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which has led to the tragic loss of at least 28 innocent lives and left many others injured. This horrific massacre of civilians and tourists is a despicable act that has no place in any civilized society.
CPI expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stands in full solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy. The CPI shares the grief of the bereaved families and extends its support in this hour of profound sorrow.
CPI demands immediate and full assistance—medical, financial and emotional—for the victims and their families from both the Union Government and the government of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
This brutal attack demands a coherent and firm response, along with scrutiny of lapses in security and intelligence. The perpetrators and planners behind this must be identified and swiftly brought to justice.
With an elected government now in place in Jammu & Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370, the Union Government must urgently initiate wide-ranging confidence-building measures in consultation with the state government and all relevant stakeholders. The safety, trust and democratic rights of the people must be prioritized to restore lasting peace and normalcy in the region.
