PEASANTS IN SINDH, PAKISTAN, MASSACRED ON THE ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT WITH ULTRA-NATIONALISTS AND TERRORIST OUTFITS BY PARAMILITARY FORCES OF PAKISTAN
On Thursday, September 28, 2023, paramilitary forcesmassacred eight poor peasants in the village of Mari Jalbani, Benazir Abad Division of Nawab Shah, Sindh, Pakistan, including two women and six men. Later, the paramilitary forceslabelled these peasant families as supporters of various Ultra-Nationalists and terrorist outfits, while the narrative on the ground contradicts the information being released by security officials. The deceased individuals' families blocked the national highway and protested until an FIR was not registered against this brutal incident. The FIR registered was a piece of mockery in which the accused has been kept unknown, whereas the very same day of the incident, paramilitary forces, with a press release, accepted the responsibility of the incident.Later, it was revealed that another FIR was registered on the day of the incident against the 200 peasants, which was intentionally kept concealed to use it against peasants as an exploiting tool.
The Communist Party of Pakistan condemned the incident and staged protests nationwide, including in front of the Islamabad Press Club. The Communist Party called on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to act against the perpetrators to take a Suo-Motu notice of this tragic event and form a high-level judicial inquiry because the inquiry from the Police against the powerful paramilitary forces is a joke and will never bring justice to the families of deceased including the poor peasant community who are living in an immense state of fear from the day of the incident. CP Pakistan also demanded compensation for the families of the deceased and for those injured in the massacre. Nothing can replace the lives of the loved ones of the families, but it is the responsibility of the State to ensure the financial well-being of the families, as those who were martyred were the sole breadwinners of their households.
On Oct 11, 2023, Comrade Imdad Qazi, the Secretary-General of the Communist Party of Pakistan, visited the village for condolence with the families of the deceased and assured CP Pakistan support. He also demanded justice for the victims, strict action against the perpetrators, and cancellation of FIR against peasants. He doubted the civil government's ability to act against the powerful security establishment by arresting responsible for shooting at the people, putting them in jail, and giving them severe exemplary punishments to avoid the reoccurrence of similar events in the future. It wouldn't be wrong to believe that farmers are being attacked to set up pressure on peasants of the village and surrounding areas to peacefully surrender their lands at very low rates in the name of expansion of the cantonment and in the name of corporate farming (In recent past, Pakistan military is acquiring government and poor peasants Agri lands on the name of corporate farming to use it as it’s another business entity across the country. It's important to mention here that Pakistan's military-controlled foundations have already been aggressively pursuing various corporate activities related to banks, industries, trading, exports, airlines, and service sector entities and now opened its imperialist character more clearly where the annexation of poor peasants’ lands across Pakistan where the estimation of land is approximately 40 million acres.
The Communist Party acknowledges the sensitivity of the situation in Sindh, where the political dominance of the bourgeois/landlord/feudalparties like the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has already resulted in the collective suffering of the people of Sindh, especially the majority peasants and the working class. The silence in this incident by these bourgeois/feudal political parties clearly shows that the local feudal and bourgeois classes are now in collaboration as B teams with the military establishment, whose character is a principal contradiction to the working class and is growing fast, which will further fuel the fire of national question in Sindh. CP Pakistan stands in solidarity with the families of the deceased and shall keep on waging its struggle for the deliverance of justice and for the rights of the people of Sindh.
