Quetta: The indiscriminate firing on the peaceful citizens of the Baloch Yakjehti (solidarity)Committee, resulting in the deaths of five civilians including a minor and injuries to several others, is utterly condemnable. The ruling authorities are deliberately pushing the situation in Balochistan to a point of no return.

Central Committee CPP

Hyderabad: Comrade Imdad Qazi, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Pakistan and Convener of the Popular Left Alliance, strongly condemned the indiscriminate firing by state institutions on peaceful protesters in Quetta, which led to the killing of five civilians including a minor and injuries to several others. He stated that such behavior by the state towards its own citizens is proof that the ruling authorities and state institutions have lost their senses. Instead of recognizing the fundamental rights of the people, they are resorting to a policy of silencing the masses through brute force.

Imdad Qazi asserted that transforming Pakistan into a fascist state will neither establish peace nor resolve the people’s problems. Yet, the ruling elite of Pakistan remains unwilling to recognize the right to self-governance of all national units within the federation. Moreover, they show no intent to address the economic and social issues of the poor and middle class across the country. Expressing solidarity with the oppressed people of Balochistan and the affected families, Imdad Qazi demanded:
• An immediate end to state repression and enforced disappearances in Balochistan and other parts of the country.
• The release of all missing and detained citizens.
• The cessation of the practice of placing students and civilians on the Fourth Schedule.
• The provision of full security and protection to all citizens.
• The immediate arrest of the personnel responsible for the latest firing incidents in Quetta.

Imdad Qazi also extended the solidarity of the people from across the country to the people of Balochistan, assuring them that the Communist Party of Pakistan will continue to stand with them in their struggle for fundamental human and national rights, complete self-governance, and the resolution of the economic and social issues faced by the poor and middle class.
