CPS in solidarity with the people of Palestine in their fight against colonial and apartheid Israel

Monday 23 October 2023: The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) remains in solidarity with the people of Palestine in their fight against colonial and apartheid power, Israel, for their right to self-determination, including the restoration of their land.

Since 7 October 2023, apartheid Israel has murdered close to 5,000 and wounded about 15,000 Palestinians in Gaza in its quest to annihilate the Palestinian people and take over the entire Palestinian land for plunder. On the other hand, the Israeli regime has murdered about 100 Palestinians in the West Bank in the past two weeks. More Palestinians remain homeless without access to basic supplies.

The CPS also affirms the Palestinian people’s right to fight against the occupation of their land by Israel. To this end, they have the full right to use whatever means necessary to push back against the genocidal Israeli regime and establish justice and peace in their land. Therefore, their fight for self-determination must be supported by the working class and justice-loving people across the world.

In its genocidal campaign against the indigenous Palestinian population, apartheid Israel has enjoyed political, military, economic and other forms of support from Western imperialist forces, chiefly the United States. These superpowers have helped drive a propaganda narrative that sought to dehumanise the people of Palestine, branding them as nothing but ‘terrorists’, the same way they branded African liberation movements and their leaders, including the African National Congress and Nelson Mandela in South Africa, among others. Israel has relied on such a colonial narrative to bomb schools and hospitals, prevent humanitarian aid from reaching the Palestinian people, as well as cutting off water and electricity from reaching Palestinians, worsening the already catastrophic massacre.

To take forward the struggle for a free Palestine, the CPS calls for working-class unity across the world, including unity among communist and workers’ parties as well as the trade union movement, to deepen practical solidarity efforts with the Palestinian people. The people of the world must unite to permanently rid the world of colonialism and apartheid, reinstate Palestinian land to the people of Palestine, and also prosecute Israel leaders who have committed war crimes and genocide, among other crimes, against the Palestinian people.
