Communities all over Swaziland have defied the Mswati autocracy’s ban of pro-democracy protests. At least 16 constituencies are protesting across Swaziland today in demand for democracy.
On Friday 25 June 2021, protesters marched in Mbabane East constituency demanding for Swaziland. During the march, Mswati’s police fired teargas and shot at protestors in a bid to suppress the action. The police also detained at least three protesters. The march that began in the morning went on till late into the night.
This morning the police are spread all over the country, attempting to suppress protest actions happening in the various communities. Some protesters have already been arrested. However, the militant residents keep regrouping, and it is expected that, yet again, the protests will go into the night as it happened in Mbabane last night.
The Communist Party of Swaziland continues to mobilise more people to join the protests. The resounding demand across the country is the unbanning of political parties, for democracy in Swaziland.
