After a long period of struggle and collective learning, the communists, then scattered and with a weak national structure, decided to organize the First National Conference in the city of Maracay, Aragua, under conditions of strict secrecy. The successful and heroic realization of this event, on August 8, 1937, marked a milestone in the contemporary political history of our country. It provided the nascent Venezuelan working class with a political instrument to organize its struggles against capitalist exploitation, forge its class consciousness for the seizure of political power, and take on the great historical task of conquering socialism-communism in Venezuela, as a liberating project destined to overcome the dependence and secular backwardness imposed by imperialism, the bourgeoisie, and the successive lackey governments at its service.

There were many obstacles that the persistent communist will had to overcome in order to make the conference a triumph in the service of the interests of the proletariat. This was in the face of petty-bourgeois vacillations which, even in those days, were evident within forces that claimed to be communist but came from organizations with a multi-class orientation and practices, essentially denying the need for an organized existence of Venezuelan communists in a new type of party: endowed with a scientific ideology, structured on Leninist principles of organization, and conceived as a national system of cells effectively linked to the social organizations of the masses; with a centralized national leadership, whose organic functioning and consistent practice were exercised under the broadest internal democracy, combined with iron discipline and unshakable militant mystique.

The conclusions and actions agreed upon at that clandestine conference soon proved the correctness of their decisions. Nearly 400 communist militants, organized into cells in both cities and the countryside, demonstrated their strength and vitality. A decisive example occurred on February 19, 1938, between 2 and 4 a.m., when some 17,000 flyers with the manifesto “DAR LA CARA” (Show Your Face) were simultaneously circulated in 17 cities across the country, announcing the creation of the revolutionary vanguard detachment of Venezuelan communists: the Communist Party of Venezuela. This action, meticulously planned and executed by all active communists, openly challenged the sixth clause of the constitution, which prohibited all communist activity and propaganda, in a gesture reminiscent of Recent Ruling No. 1,160 of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ). Jesús Faría himself, delegate for Zulia and then detained, received in his cell the flyer approved six months earlier by the National Conference, confirming the scope and repercussions of that decision.

From the First National Conference to the present, the PCV has been an incorruptible detachment, with class, ideological, political, and organizational independence, which has been able to confront with firmness, courage, creativity, and political audacity both civil and military dictatorships, open or covert, as well as the internal actions of traitors, provocateurs, and factionalists who have tried to liquidate or subdue it through diversionism and the imposition of theories alien to its Marxist-Leninist character. This constant resistance has led to the defeat of those who have sought to destroy the party, who have been buried by the inexorable march of history. The PCV-DIGNIDAD will once again defeat and triumph over its enemies!

Today, as yesterday, we true Venezuelan communists face the immense challenge that was taken up 88 years ago by that generation of forgers and builders. It is not a question of starting over, but of identifying and learning from the historical experience contained in our struggles, from the moral and ethical lessons present in the heroic example of those first communists, which should strengthen us for the new times and struggles ahead. This implies strengthening the link between our cells and the militancy with the social organizations of the people, especially those that fight for just rights and challenge the power of the bourgeois state, its authoritarian government, and its repressive apparatus; in addition to promoting permanent collective study and reflection, relying on the works of our classics for the scientific analysis of reality and the problems we face as exploited, excluded, and persecuted.

In short, it is a matter of returning to social life fully armed ideologically and politically with the strength of our history, our organizational forms, and our practices of struggle, forged over nearly a century of existence. This legacy, the inalienable heritage of the PCV-DIGNIDAD, is at the service of workers and the people in their struggle to overcome the backwardness of dependent Venezuelan capitalism and its collapsed model of rentier accumulation.

The Venezuelan people are not condemned to endure the inhuman conditions of dependent capitalism or the renewed and crueler forms of economic exploitation based on neoliberalism, which privatizes resources that belong to the entire nation. Nor should they submit to the domination of a corrupt, inept, and authoritarian bureaucratic elite that exploits power for its own benefit, violating rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and laws, and dragging the country toward a dangerous abyss.

After holding 16 National Congresses, the PCV-DIGNIDAD is now positioned as the most advanced political organization to confront the deep crisis affecting both the nation and workers in the countryside and the city. Thanks to a rigorous critical analysis developed over decades of research, study, debate, and collective construction, we have a solid political theory that guides the development of productive forces, science, and technology, thus guaranteeing the full well-being of future generations. Our goal is to definitively eradicate the multi-importer economic model, controlled by submissive elites and sustained by patronage, populism, parasitism, and corruption.

For this reason, our class enemies are once again attempting to liquidate and totally destroy our party, resorting to judicial proceedings and the stripping of our legal status, symbols, and electoral membership, currently usurped by individuals outside our ranks. In addition, they employ political diversionary tactics to distort the true essence and character of the historic Communist Party of Venezuela, creating a false PCV subordinate to the interests of power.

Eighty-eight years after that founding feat, we reaffirm our historic commitment to the working people, to a popular democracy that fully restores the rights and dignity of the Venezuelan people, defeating the ruling authoritarianism and the political forces at the service of imperialist interventionism, its allies, and local operators.

A 88 años de la Primera Conferencia Nacional del PCV: Seguimos dando la cara con dignidad clasista y revolucionaria

Tras un prolongado período de luchas y aprendizaje colectivo, los comunistas, entonces dispersos y con una débil estructura a nivel nacional, resolvieron organizar en la ciudad de Maracay, Aragua, la Primera Conferencia Nacional, en condiciones de estricta clandestinidad. La exitosa y heroica realización de este evento, el 8 de agosto de 1937, marcó un hito en la historia política contemporánea de nuestro país. Dotó a la naciente clase obrera venezolana de un instrumento político para organizar sus luchas contra la explotación capitalista, forjar su conciencia de clase para la toma del poder político y asumir la gran tarea histórica de conquistar el socialismo-comunismo en Venezuela, como proyecto liberador destinado a superar la dependencia y el atraso secular impuestos por el imperialismo, la burguesía y los sucesivos gobiernos lacayos a su servicio.

No fueron pocos los obstáculos que la persistente voluntad comunista tuvo que superar para convertir la conferencia en un triunfo al servicio de los intereses del proletariado. Ello, frente a las vacilaciones pequeñoburguesas que, incluso en aquellos tiempos, se manifestaban dentro de fuerzas que se asumían como comunistas, pero que provenían de organizaciones de orientación y prácticas policlasistas, negando en esencia la necesidad de una existencia organizada de los comunistas venezolanos en un partido de nuevo tipo: dotado de una ideología científica, estructurado sobre los principios leninistas de organización y concebido como un sistema nacional de células eficazmente vinculadas a las organizaciones sociales de las masas; con una dirección nacional centralizada, cuyo funcionamiento orgánico y práctica consecuente se ejercieran bajo la más amplia democracia interna, unida a una férrea disciplina y una mística militante inquebrantable.

Las conclusiones y acciones acordadas en aquella conferencia clandestina demostraron, en poco tiempo, la justeza de sus decisiones. Cerca de 400 militantes comunistas, organizados en células tanto en las ciudades como en el campo, dieron prueba de su fuerza y vitalidad. Un ejemplo decisivo ocurrió el 19 de febrero de 1938, entre las 2 y las 4 de la madrugada, cuando circularon simultáneamente en 17 ciudades del país unas 17.000 hojas volantes con el manifiesto «DAR LA CARA», que anunciaba la creación del destacamento revolucionario de vanguardia de los comunistas venezolanos: el Partido Comunista de Venezuela. Esta acción, meticulosamente planificada y ejecutada por todo el activo comunista, desafió abiertamente el inciso sexto constitucional que prohibía toda actividad y propaganda comunista, en un gesto que recuerda a la Sentencia N°1.160 de la Sala Constitucional del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) en tiempos recientes. El propio Jesús Faría, delegado por el Zulia y entonces detenido, recibió en su celda el volante aprobado seis meses antes por la Conferencia Nacional, confirmando el alcance y las repercusiones de esa decisión.

Desde la Primera Conferencia Nacional hasta la actualidad, el PCV ha sido un destacamento insobornable, con independencia clasista, ideológica, política y organizativa, que ha sabido enfrentar con firmeza, valentía, creatividad y audacia política tanto a dictaduras civiles o militares, abiertas o encubiertas, como a la acción interna de traidores, provocadores y fraccionalistas que han intentado liquidarlo o someterlo mediante diversionismo y la imposición de teorías ajenas a su carácter marxista-leninista. Esa resistencia constante ha llevado a la derrota de quienes han buscado acabar con el partido, quedando sepultados por la marcha inexorable de la historia. ¡El PCV-DIGNIDAD volverá a vencer y triunfar frente a sus enemigos!

Hoy, como ayer, los verdaderos comunistas venezolanos enfrentamos el inmenso desafío que hace 88 años asumió aquella generación de forjadores y constructores. No se trata de volver a empezar, sino de identificar y aprender de la experiencia histórica contenida en nuestras luchas, del aprendizaje moral y ético presente en el ejemplo heroico de aquellos primeros comunistas, que debe fortalecernos para los nuevos tiempos y combates. Ello implica reforzar el vínculo entre nuestras células y la militancia con las organizaciones sociales del pueblo, especialmente con aquellas que luchan por derechos justos y desafían el poder del Estado burgués, su gobierno autoritario y su aparato represivo; además de promover el estudio y la reflexión colectiva permanente, apoyándonos en las obras de nuestros clásicos para el análisis científico de la realidad y los problemas que enfrentamos como explotados, excluidos y perseguidos.

En síntesis, se trata de retornar a la vida social plenamente armados ideológica y políticamente con la fuerza de nuestra historia, nuestras formas organizativas y prácticas de lucha, forjadas a lo largo de casi un siglo de existencia. Este legado, patrimonio inalienable del PCV-DIGNIDAD, está al servicio de los trabajadores y el pueblo en su combate por superar el atraso del capitalismo dependiente venezolano y su colapsado modelo de acumulación rentista.

El pueblo venezolano no está condenado a soportar las condiciones inhumanas del capitalismo dependiente ni las formas renovadas y más crueles de explotación económica, basadas en el neoliberalismo privatizador de los recursos que pertenecen a toda la nación. Tampoco debe someterse al dominio de una élite burocrática corrupta, inepta y autoritaria que usufructúa el poder para su beneficio, vulnerando derechos y libertades consagrados en la Constitución y las leyes, y arrastrando al país hacia un peligroso abismo.

Tras realizar 16 Congresos Nacionales, el PCV-DIGNIDAD se posiciona hoy como la organización política más avanzada para enfrentar la profunda crisis que afecta tanto a la nación como a los trabajadores del campo y la ciudad. Gracias a un riguroso análisis crítico desarrollado durante décadas de investigación, estudio, debate y construcción colectiva, contamos con una teoría política sólida que orienta el desarrollo de las fuerzas productivas, la ciencia y la técnica, garantizando así el bienestar pleno de las futuras generaciones. Nuestro objetivo es erradicar definitivamente el modelo económico multiimportador, controlado por élites entreguistas y sustentado en el clientelismo, el populismo, el parasitismo y la corrupción.

Por ello, nuestros enemigos de clase intentan una vez más la liquidación y destrucción total de nuestro partido, recurriendo a la judicialización y al despojo de nuestra personería jurídica, símbolos y membresía electoral, actualmente usurpados por individuos ajenos a nuestras filas. Además, emplean tácticas de diversionismo político para distorsionar la verdadera esencia y carácter del histórico Partido Comunista de Venezuela, creando un falso PCV subordinado a los intereses del poder.

A 88 años de aquella gesta fundacional, ratificamos nuestro compromiso histórico con el pueblo trabajador, por una democracia popular que restablezca plenamente los derechos y la dignidad del pueblo venezolano, derrotando al autoritarismo gobernante y a las fuerzas políticas al servicio del intervencionismo imperialista, sus aliados y operadores locales.
