Anticommunist attack during President Maduro's annual message to the National Assembly

The president of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, has assumed command of the most brutal anti-communist attack in Venezuela so far this century. This January 15, during the presentation of the annual message before the National Assembly, Maduro, taking advantage of his investiture as Head of State, made an artful and politically advantageous attack on the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and claimed its judicial intervention as an achievement of the year that recently concluded. 

The theft of the acronym of the oldest political party in the country was wrapped in a false anti-imperialist rhetoric and counted on the smiles and complicit applause of the business representation, the right wing political opposition and none other than the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, who signed the legal nonsense with which they appointed a group of mercenaries at the service of the leadership of the Government-PSUV as the "new" leadership of the PCV. 

Maduro admitted that he could not tolerate that the most powerful symbol of the struggle of the Venezuelan workers for their rights, the Red Rooster, criticized his neo-liberal adjustment to the detriment of the majority of the country and to the benefit of a few businessmen who plunder the national wealth under the shadow of the Government-PSUV. Of course, nothing was said about his co-religionists, Tareck El Aissami or Hugbel Roa [both PSUV members openly accused of massive corruption and theft by the government itself but neither have been arrested], nor about the colossal corruption scheme of his party. 

While the President enthusiastically presented growth figures, he announced to millions of workers that their salaries -the lowest in the world- would continue to be frozen and that -in the case of the public sector- they would have to be content with a bonus that has no impact whatsoever on their labor benefits such as vacations, Christmas bonuses, retirement and social benefits, and that favors the interests of the public and private business sector. In other words, the Government of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela has not only destroyed the income of the workers, but has also sent their future into an abyss. 

Of course, the PSUV is not acting alone: its honeymoon with [business federation] Fedecámaras, fractions of the opposition right wing and the U.S. government gives it a fairly broad framework of action, characterized not only by the destruction of the living conditions of a people who are forced to perform multiple jobs informally in order to survive, but also by a policy of criminalization and persecution of the workers and popular struggles. 

While Maduro was speaking in the National Assembly, outside, in the streets of Caracas and many other cities of the country, teachers were demanding wage indexation, restitution of violated rights and discussion of their collective bargaining agreement. The president not only ignored this clamor, but also mocked the demonstrators by trying to make believe that the miserable bonuses offered are a substitute for the constitutional right to a decent salary. 

This demonstrates the fairness and validity of the proposals of the PSUV-PCV Unitary Framework Agreement signed in 2018 by President Maduro that he is violating today with his neoliberal turn. However, despite the aggressions, censorship and persecution, the legitimate Communist Party of Venezuela will not lower its banners. We will continue on our feet: joining forces and organizing struggles.

Ataque anticomunista durante el mensaje anual del presidente Maduro ante la Asamblea Nacional

COMUNICADO.- El presidente de la República, Nicolás Maduro Moros, ha asumido el mando de la más brutal arremetida anticomunista en lo que va de siglo en Venezuela. Este 15 de enero, durante la presentación del mensaje anual ante la Asamblea Nacional, Maduro aprovechando su investidura de jefe de Estado, atacó de forma artera y con ventajismo político al Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) y reivindicó su intervención judicial como un logro del año que recientemente concluyó.

El robo de las siglas del partido político más antiguo del país fue envuelto en una falsa retórica antiimperialista y contó con las sonrisas y aplausos cómplices de la representación empresarial, la oposición política de derecha y nada más y nada menos que de la presidenta del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia, quien firmó el adefesio jurídico con el que nombraron a un grupo de mercenarios al servicio de la cúpula del Gobierno-PSUV como la «nueva» dirección del PCV.

Maduro admitió que no podía tolerar que el símbolo más potente de la lucha de los trabajadores venezolanos por sus derechos, el Gallo Rojo, le hiciera críticas a su ajuste neoliberal, aplicado en detrimento de las mayoría del país y en beneficio de unos pocos empresarios que saquearon y saquean a sus anchas la riqueza nacional bajo la sombra del Gobierno-PSUV. Por su puesto, nada dijo sobre sus correligionarios, Tareck El Aissami o Hugbel Roa, ni de la colosal trama de corrupción que protagoniza su partido.

Mientras el mandatario presentaba con entusiasmo números de crecimiento, le anunció a millones de trabajadores y trabajadoras que su salario –el más bajo del planeta– seguiría congelado y que – en el caso de la Administración Pública – se tendrían que contentar con un bono que no tiene ningún tipo de incidencia en sus beneficios laborales como vacaciones, aguinaldos, jubilación y prestaciones sociales y que favorece a los intereses del sector empresarial público y privado. Es decir, el Gobierno del Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela no solo ha destruido el ingreso de las y los trabajadores, sino que además ha enviado su futuro a un abismo.

Desde luego que el PSUV no actúa solo: su luna de miel con Fedecámaras, fracciones de la derecha opositora y el gobierno de Estados Unidos le da un marco de actuación bastante amplio, caracterizado no solo por la destrucción de las condiciones de vida de un pueblo que se ve obligado a realizar múltiples trabajos de manera informal para sobrevivir, sino por una política de criminalización y judicialización de las luchas obreras y populares.

Mientras Maduro hablaba en la Asamblea Nacional, afuera, en las calles de Caracas y de numerosas ciudades del país, los maestros exigían indexación salarial, restitución de derechos conculcados y discusión de su contratación colectiva. El mandatario no sólo desoyó este clamor sino que se burló de los manifestantes al querer hacer creer que los bonos miserables que ofrece son el sustituto del derecho constitucional a un salario digno.

Esto demuestra la justeza y la vigencia de las propuestas del Acuerdo Unitario Marco PSUV-PCV firmado en 2018 por el presidente Maduro y que hoy violenta con su viraje neoliberal. No obstante, a pesar de las agresiones, la censura y la persecución, el legítimo Partido Comunista de Venezuela no bajará sus banderas. Seguiremos en pie: sumando fuerzas y organizando luchas.
