Government of Nicolás Maduro tries to persecute communist leader Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, PCV Secretary of International Relations

Communiqué: A few hours before the presidential election in Venezuela, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) alerts national public opinion and the International Communist Movement to a new maneuver of the Government of Nicolás Maduro with which it intends to persecute and prosecute communists working in the public sector, in open violation of labor laws and constitutional rights.

We denounce the attempt to persecute comrade Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of International Relations of the PCV, through a fraudulent administrative process in his work center, with which they are trying to take him to judicial instances.

Rodriguez ─a worker for almost a decade of the Ministry of Petroleum─ was notified last July 2 of an administrative procedure of dismissal against him, accompanied by a precautionary measure of suspension. Such proceeding was opened based on an anonymous complaint in which he is accused of being the architect of the «alleged detour and facilitation of fuel to extreme right-wing factors, who intend to generate a climate of violence and destabilization throughout the country during the presidential elections of July 28».

The «evidence» presented to support such accusation is reduced to the review in a media of a statement made by the PCV on national issues, which have nothing to do with the oil industry and much less with the supply of fuel in the country.

As if this were not enough, in addition to the absence of evidentiary elements to support this infamy, there is also a dangerous indication: at the time of formulating the charges, repeated emphasis is made on the membership of Héctor Alejo Rodríguez in the ranks of the PCV; making it clear that this procedure is an aberrant case of political persecution against an outstanding leader who has played a key role in the international denunciation of the anti-worker and anti-popular administration of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.

It is also clear that this vile set-up is conceived to link the Venezuelan working class party with alleged conspiratorial plans and thus justify the open criminalization of its militants.

This fact also exposes the reactionary and anti-communist turn of the leadership of the Government of Nicolás Maduro and of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV); and takes us back to the dreadful times of the governments of Puntofijismo, when communists were persecuted, imprisoned and expelled from their workplaces because of their political militancy.

This attack against comrade Héctor Alejo Rodríguez is part of the plan to liquidate our party that is being carried out by the corrupt leadership of the PSUV-Government and that has as its antecedent the theft of our legal figurehead to hand it over to a handful of mercenaries subordinated to their interests.

We hold the Minister of Petroleum Pedro Rafael Tellechea immediately responsible for the progress of this illegal procedure against comrade Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, carried out on the basis of a dreadful set-up that violates his human and labor rights.

We call on the Communist Parties and workers, as well as the popular and anti-imperialist forces of the world, to express their solidarity in order to contain this dangerous attempt to prosecute comrade Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, which in turn threatens the legitimate PCV.

Let the working people and the International Communist Movement know that this new attack will not stop us in our decision to advance in the regroupment of the authentically democratic forces of the country to be able to defeat the authoritarian government of Nicolás Maduro and thus open the way to the recovery of the constitutional rights that have been liquidated with his policies in the service of capital.

Gobierno de Nicolás Maduro intenta criminalizar al dirigente comunista Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, Secretario de Relaciones Internacionales del PCV

Comunicado.- A pocas horas de celebrarse la elección presidencial en Venezuela, el Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) alerta a la opinión pública nacional y al Movimiento Comunista Internacional de una nueva maniobra del Gobierno de Nicolás Maduro con la que se pretende perseguir y judicializar a militantes comunistas que trabajan en el sector público, en abierta violación de las leyes laborales y derechos constitucionales.

Denunciamos el intento de criminalizar al camarada Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, miembro del Buró Político y Secretario de Relaciones Internacionales del PCV, a través de un fraudulento proceso administrativo en su centro de trabajo, con el que intentan llevarlo a instancias judiciales.

Rodríguez ─trabajador desde hace casi una década del Ministerio de Petróleo─ fue notificado el pasado 2 de julio de un procedimiento administrativo de destitución en su contra, acompañado de una medida cautelar de suspensión. Tal procedimiento fue abierto a partir de una denuncia anónima en la que se le acusa de ser el artífice de la «presunta desviación y facilitamiento de combustible a factores de extrema derecha, quienes pretender generar un clima de violencia y desestabilización en todo el país durante las elecciones presidenciales del 28 de julio».

Las «pruebas» presentadas para sostener semejante acusación se reducen a la reseña en un medio de comunicación de una declaración del PCV sobre temas del acontecer nacional, que nada tienen que ver con la industria petrolera y mucho menos con el suministro de combustible en el país.

Por si esto fuera poco, además de la ausencia de elementos probatorios que sustenten esta infamia, se suma un peligroso señalamiento: al momento de formular los cargos, se hace hincapié reiteradamente en la militancia de Héctor Alejo Rodríguez en las filas del PCV; dejando en evidencia que este procedimiento se trata de un aberrante caso de persecución política en contra un destacado dirigente que ha cumplido un papel clave en la denuncia internacional de la gestión antiobrera y antipopular de Nicolás Maduro en Venezuela.

También está claro que este vil montaje está concebido para relacionar al partido de la clase obrera venezolana con supuestos planes conspirativos y así justificar la criminalización abierta de sus militantes.

Este hecho además deja al descubierto el giro reaccionario y anticomunista de la cúpula del Gobierno de Nicolás Maduro y del Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV); y nos retrotrae a los espantosos tiempos de los gobiernos del puntofijismo, cuando los comunistas eran perseguidos, encarcelados y expulsados de su centros de trabajo por su militancia política.

De concretarse este ilegal procedimiento administrativo, el Secretario de Relaciones Internacionales del PCV sería sometido a un proceso penal bajo un sistema judicial que se caracteriza por la sistemática violación del debido proceso y de los derechos humanos de los trabajadores que son injustamente apresados por luchar o denunciar irregularidades.

Este ataque contra el camarada Héctor Alejo Rodríguez es parte del plan de liquidación de nuestro partido que ejecuta la cúpula corrupta del Gobierno-PSUV y que tiene como antecedente el robo de nuestra personalidad jurídica para entregársela a un puñado de mercenarios subordinados a sus intereses.

Hacemos responsable inmediato al Ministro de Petróleo Pedro Rafael Tellechea, del avance de este ilegal procedimiento en contra del camarada Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, ejecutado con base a un dantesco montaje que violenta sus derechos humanos y laborales.

Llamamos a los Partidos Comunistas y obreros, así como a las fuerzas populares y antiimperialistas del mundo, a expresar su solidaridad a fin de contener este peligroso intento de judicialización del camarada Héctor Alejo Rodríguez, que a su vez amenaza al legítimo PCV.

Sepa el pueblo trabajador y el Movimiento Comunista Internacional que este nuevo zarpazo no nos detendrá en nuestra decisión de avanzar en el reagrupamiento de las fuerzas auténticamente democráticas del país para poder derrotar al gobierno autoritario de Nicolás Maduro y así abrir paso a la recuperación de los derechos constitucionales que han sido liquidados con su política al servicio del capital.
