PCV to support Enrique Márquez’s presidential candidacy

Tribuna Popular – The legitimate membership of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) announced this Tuesday, June 25, its support for the candidacy of Enrique Márquez for the presidency of the Republic.

The announcement was made by the Secretary General of the Central Committee, Oscar Figuera, after the culmination of the third phase of the XVI National Conference held last Saturday, June 22, to define the tactics of the communists in the face of the July 28 presidential elections. 

«The National Conference considered that in the current conditions of exclusion of the Communist Party from the electoral process, due to an arbitrary and fraudulent decision of the Supreme Court of Justice, which stripped us of our ticket, of our symbols, of our legal status to hand it over to a group of mercenaries at the service of the leadership of the Government and the PSUV, that under these conditions, the Communist Party should continue acting in the electoral field», detailed Figuera.

The General Secretary of the PCV explained that in the deliberations of the XVI National Conference, «It was considered necessary to continue promoting the meeting of the diverse democratic and popular currents, not only those identified with the left, but also with the democratic camp, which are today convinced that it is necessary to get out of this historical tragedy».

When evaluating the political situation, the delegates unanimously rejected the reelection of Nicolás Maduro and agreed that the genuine membership of the PCV must face the two hegemonic poles and, consequently, said Figuera, «this reality led the National Conference to decide the candidacy of engineer Enrique Márquez».

«Today we reiterate the need to coincide in a programmatic proposal that vindicates the rights of the workers and the people in general; that takes into account the demands for wages, social benefits, vacations, Christmas bonuses; the right to union organization and collective bargaining agreement; to prevent the processes of persecution and criminalization of those who fight; to release the imprisoned workers.»

«In this exchange with the candidate, we have also raised the recovery of the political rights of the people. The validity of the Constitution as a fundamental source of reference for the reestablishment of institutionality in Venezuela. The recognition of the true leaderships of the parties that have been intervened by decision of the Government’s leadership; the reform of the law so that there is truly proportional representation of minorities», he added.

The rights of the indigenous peoples, the defense of nature and «an independent and sovereign foreign policy, not subordinated to any power block», are other core issues of the political-electoral agreement that the PCV will sign with the political organization Centrados [that is backing Marquez’s candidacy].

Rebuilding the country hand in hand with the workers.

Presidential candidate Enrique Márquez expressed his honor to receive the endorsement of Venezuelan communists, «a party that has been in the most important historical events of our contemporary Venezuela».

«At a moment in which we speak of national unity, from Centrados and from our candidacy, we could not but seek precisely that unity, that unity of criteria, that unity of feelings, because politics is not exempt from that», he added.

Referring to the coincidences with the PCV, the candidate affirmed: «We have found similar paths in what we have called the ‘government of the workers’, to give privilege and participation to a sector, perhaps the most affected in the country».

Marquez advanced that he aspires to add to his candidacy «all those sectors that want to build a different country, a country of tolerance, because this intolerance exhibited by the National Government, headed by its candidate for continuity, Nicolas Maduro, has been part of the problem of this political movement that has been remaining alone, that has been remaining squalidly alone in power».

The engineer from Zulia state [west Venezuela] criticized that the reelection campaign of the [ruling] United Socialism Party of Venezuela (PSUV) was based on the mistreatment of its competitors.

«In answering our refusal to sign an agreement with Maduro, he called us oligarchs. President, here I am with the ‘oligarchy’ of the Communist Party,» he joked before the press and added: «If you want to see an oligarch, President, first look up the definition of oligarchy: Oligarchy is a government defined by a small group of people who control both public power and economic power. Once you read that, open the bathroom door, look at yourself in the mirror to see a real oligarch because, indeed, in the hands of the ruling thread, around you is not only the political power, but the economic power of this country».

To the accusation of being a «conspirator», also made by the Head of State, Marquez affirmed: «Our only conspiracy is to seek the vote of the Venezuelan people to change the future of this country, because no one in his right mind thinks that with you at the head, this can change».

«The people will vote against you and we will have a Government that will make possible a better future for our country. A future that will not be easy. Nobody says that it is easy to rebuild this tragedy, but we will do it hand in hand with the workers; we will do it hand in hand with the working people in every company, in every office, in every ministry, in every school, in every hospital. We will do it and we will recover each one of these spaces for the people. We will do it with honesty», he concluded.

PCV respaldará candidatura presidencial de Enrique Márquez

Tribuna Popular.- La legítima militancia del Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) anunció este martes 25 de junio su respaldo a la candidatura de Enrique Márquez a la Presidencia de la República.

El anunció lo hizo el Secretario General del Comité Central, Oscar Figuera, tras la culminación de la tercera fase de la XVI Conferencia Nacional realizada el pasado sábado 22 de junio para definir la táctica de las y los comunistas de cara al 28 de julio.

«La Conferencia Nacional consideró que en las condiciones actuales de exclusión del Partido Comunista del proceso electoral, por una decisión arbitraria y fraudulenta del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia, que nos despojó de nuestra tarjeta, de nuestros símbolos, de nuestra personería jurídica para entregársela a un grupo de mercenarios al servicio de la cúpula del Gobierno y el PSUV, que en esas condiciones, el Partido Comunista debía continuar actuando en el terreno electoral», detalló Figuera.

El Secretario General del PCV explicó que en las deliberaciones de la XVI Conferencia Nacional, «se consideró necesario continuar impulsando el encuentro de las diversas corrientes democráticas y populares, no solo aquéllas que se identifican con la izquierda, pero sí con el campo democrático, que estamos hoy convencidas de que es necesario salir de esta tragedia histórica».

Al evaluar el cuadro político, las y los delegados, por unanimidad, rechazaron la candidatura a reelección de Nicolás Maduro y coincidieron en que la genuina militancia del PCV debe hacer frente a los dos polos hegemónicos y, en consecuencia, dijo Figuera, «esa realidad llevó a la Conferencia Nacional a decidir la candidatura del ingeniero Enrique Márquez».

«Hoy reiteramos la necesidad de coincidir en una propuesta programática que reivindique los derechos de los trabajadores y del pueblo en general; que tenga en cuenta las demandas por el salario, las prestaciones sociales, las vacaciones, los aguinaldos; el derecho a la organización sindical y a la convención colectiva; para impedir los procesos de judicialización y criminalización de quienes luchan; de dejar en libertad a las trabajadoras y los trabajadores presos».

«También hemos planteado en este intercambio con el candidato la recuperación de los derechos políticos del pueblo. La vigencia de la Constitución como fuente fundamental de referencia para el restablecimiento de la institucionalidad en Venezuela. El reconocimiento de las verdaderas direcciones de los partidos que han sido intervenidos por decisión de la cúpula del Gobierno; la reforma de la ley para que de verdad exista representación proporcional de las minorías», agregó.

Los derechos de los pueblos indígenas, la defensa de la naturaleza y «una política exterior independiente y soberana, no subordinada a ningún bloque de poder», son otros de los temas medulares del acuerdo político-electoral que el PCV firmará con la organización política Centrados.

Reconstruir el país de la mano de los trabajadores

El candidato presidencial Enrique Márquez expresó su honor al recibir el respaldo de las y los comunistas venezolanos, «un partido que ha estado en los eventos históricos más importantes de nuestra Venezuela contemporánea».

«En un momento en el cual hablamos de unidad nacional, desde Centrados y desde nuestra candidatura, no podíamos sino buscar precisamente esa unidad, esa unidad de criterios, esa unidad de sentimientos, porque la política no está exenta de eso», agregó.

Al referirse a las coincidencias con el PCV, el candidato afirmó: «Hemos encontrado rumbos similares en lo que hemos llamado el ‘gobierno de los trabajadores’, para darle privilegio y participación a un sector, quizás el más golpeado el país».

Márquez adelantó que aspira a sumar a su candidatura «a todo aquellos sectores que quieran construir un país diferente, un país de tolerancia, porque esa intolerancia que exhibe el Gobierno Nacional, encabezado por su candidato a la continuidad, Nicolás Maduro, ha sido parte del problema de ese movimiento político que se ha ido quedando solo, que se ha ido quedando escuálidamente solo en el poder».

El ingeniero zuliano criticó que la campaña de reelección del Partido Socialismo Unido de Venezuela (PSUV) se fundamentara en el maltrato de sus competidores.

«Maduro para responder nuestra negativa a firmar un acuerdo con él, nos llama oligarcas. Presidente, aquí estoy con la ‘oligarquía’ del Partido Comunista», bromeó ante la prensa y agregó: «Si usted quiere ver un oligarca, Presidente, primero busque la definición de oligarquía: La oligarquía es un gobierno definido por un grupo pequeño de personas que controla tanto el poder público como el poder económico. Una vez que lea eso, abra la puerta del baño, mírese en el espejo para que vea un oligarca de verdad porque, efectivamente, en las manos de la rosca gobernante, alrededor suyo está no solo el poder político, sino el poder económico de este país».

Al señalamiento de ser un «conspirador», hecho también por el jefe de Estado, Márquez afirmó: «Nuestra única conspiración es buscar el voto del pueblo venezolano para que cambie el futuro de este país, porque nadie en su sano juicio piensa que como usted a la cabeza, esto puede cambiar».

«El pueblo va a votar en su contra y tendremos un Gobierno que posibilitará un mejor futuro para nuestro país. Un futuro que no será fácil. Nadie dice que es sencillo reconstruir esta tragedia, pero lo haremos de la mano de los trabajadores; lo haremos de la mano del pueblo trabajador en cada empresa, en cada oficina, en cada ministerio, en cada escuela, en cada hospital. Lo haremos y recuperaremos cada uno de estos espacios para la gente. Lo haremos con honestidad», concluyó.
