Big Demonstration Against the NATO Summit in Madrid

Last Sunday, June 26, the Communist Party of the Workers of Spain (PCTE) and the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) participated in the massive demonstration against the NATO Summit to be held in Madrid. Under the slogan “No to NATO, No to the imperialist war”, hundreds of communists shouted “No to NATO” in the streets of Madrid, denouncing with their slogans the imperialist war in Ukraine as well.

The Government of social democratic coalition by PSOE and Unidas Podemos is hosting in Madrid this NATO Summit. The Atlantic organization aims in this Summit to formulate a new “strategic concept”, which in practice means to deepen in the defense and security model of the Alliance as well as the assurance of its aggressiveness against the peoples in the world.

In Spain, this anti-NATO demonstration has come together with the suspension of basic rights and freedoms by the Government in order to shield Madrid for the Summit, which will be held on June 29-30, due to the largest police deployment in the recent history of our country. This is why we also denounce that: you are with NATO or you are with the working class. The Government of social democratic coalition by PSOE and Unidas Podemos is very clear on which side it is with for a long time, as it represses the workers' answer to the imperialist summit, and places our country in a situation of higher risk in case of a possible generalized imperialist war.

Of course, this NATO Summit is also being held in the context of imperialist war in Ukraine. Therefore, the joint bloc of PCTE and KKE denounced the imperialist war during the demonstration as well as the role of the Governments of both countries in such war through the delivery of weapons and military resources, and underscored that the working class has nothing to win in the clash between imperialist powers. Their capitalist wars are our dead, the working class' deaths.

Gran manifestación contra la cumbre de la OTAN en Madrid

El pasado domingo 26 de junio el Partido Comunista de los Trabajadores de España (PCTE) y el Partido Comunista de Grecia (KKE) participaron en la masiva manifestación contra la cumbre de la OTAN convocada en Madrid. Bajo el lema "No a la OTAN, no a la guerra imperialista" centenares de comunistas gritaron por las calles de Madrid "OTAN no", denunciando también con sus consignas la guerra imperialista en Ucrania.

El gobierno de coalición socialdemócrata del PSOE y Unidas Podemos acoge en Madrid esta cumbre de la OTAN en la que la organización atlántica pretende formular un nuevo "concepto estratégico", que en la práctica significa profundizar en el modelo de defensa y seguridad de la alianza, así como asegurar su agresividad contra los pueblos del mundo. 

En España esta manifestación anti-OTAN ha venido acompañada, por parte del gobierno, de una suspensión de derechos y libertades básicas para blindar Madrid de cara a la cumbre que se celebra durante los días 29 y 30 de junio, a través del mayor despliegue policial de la historia reciente en nuestro país. Por ello, también denunciamos que: o se está con la OTAN, o se está con la clase obrera. El gobierno de coalición socialdemócrata de PSOE y Unidas Podemos tiene muy claro su bando desde hace tiempo, pues mientras acoge la cumbre imperialista, reprime la respuesta obrera, y coloca a nuestro país en una situación de mayor riesgo en una eventual guerra imperialista generalizada.

Por supuesto, también esta cumbre de la OTAN se produce en el contexto de la guerra imperialista en Ucrania. Por ello, durante la movilización, el cortejo conjunto del PCTE y el KKE denunció la guerra imperialista, denunció el papel del gobierno de ambos países en la misma a través del envío de armas y recursos militares, e incidió en que la clase obrera nada tiene que ganar en el enfrentamiento entre potencias imperialistas, porque sus guerras capitalistas, son nuestros muertos, los muertos de la clase obrera.
