Statement of the PB of the PCTE

On the New Wave of Israeli Attacks in Gaza

Regarding the last Israeli bombings against the population in Gaza, which means the breach of the ceasefire agreement reached in January, the Political Bureau of the PCTE makes the following considerations:

We condemn this new example of the terrorist and genocidal policy exercised by Israel against the Palestinian people. This should be added to the attacks it had carried out against the population in the West Bank in the last weeks.

We denounce the untenable situation of the Palestinian people —caused by Israel and tolerated by its allies— is embedded within a broader framework affecting all the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East, where the spheres of influence, markets, and the control of transport routes for commodities and strategic resources are disputed. The Israeli rhetoric connecting its actions of international terrorism with the defense of their national security is nothing but a smokescreen to conceal its expansionist eagerness and, in this particular moment, to cover the internal political problems its Government is facing.

The peoples in the region are facing a situation of permanent instability caused by the terrorist actions of the State of Israel, which confirms once again its role as the spearhead of the interests of US imperialism in a territory that has turned for years into the bloody scenario of contradictions between the different regional and global powers.

The new stage of this clash started with the war in Gaza in October 2023, it continued with the bombardments against Lebanon in October 2024, and has resulted in the fast overthrow of the previous Syrian Government and its replacement by Jihadist forces thanks to the coordinated role of Turkey, Israel, and the United States.

The breach of the different ceasefire agreements in Palestine and Lebanon, the consolidation of the occupation of the Golan Heights, and the enlargement of the Syrian territory occupied by Israel are part of a strategy directed against Iran, the main enemy power in the zone for USA and Israel. The recent shelling of the Yemeni areas controlled by the Houthis should be also added to this.

We denounce the role being played by the European Union and its member countries, apparently scandalized by the Israeli actions while they maintain their trade and military relations with Israel.

In such a turbulent international moment, when warmongering, protectionist, and reactionary trends are growing and alliances are becoming increasingly more volatile, it is evidenced that the working class cannot trust in nothing but its own forces and should double its internationalist activity in solidarity with the Palestinian people, with all the peoples turned into victims of the inter-imperialist contradictions, and against the steps taken by our Governments towards the imperialist war.

The solidarity with the Palestinian people cannot be separated from our duty to struggle against all the capitalist governments, whose hypocrisy is directly determined by the interests they advocate. These interests are not those of the working-class and people's majority, but those of the monopolies that exploit and plunder our population and our class siblings in other countries.

We will keep on denouncing the genocidal role of Israel as well as the complicity of the USA and the EU with the slaughter of Palestinian people, and organizing ourselves in order to stop with the dominance of those who see the working class and the peoples of the world only as cannon fodder.

Ante la nueva oleada de ataques israelíes en Gaza

Ante los últimos bombardeos israelíes contra la población de Gaza, que suponen una ruptura del acuerdo de alto al fuego alcanzado en enero, el Buró Político del PCTE realiza las siguientes consideraciones:

Condenamos este nuevo ejemplo de la política terrorista y genocida que ejerce Israel contra el pueblo palestino, que se suma a los ataques que venía desarrollando contra la población de Cisjordania en las pasadas semanas.

Denunciamos que la insostenible situación del pueblo palestino provocada por Israel y tolerada por sus aliados se inserta en un marco más amplio, que afecta a toda la región del Mediterráneo Oriental y Oriente Medio, donde están en disputa las esferas de influencia, los mercados y el control de las rutas de transporte de mercancías y recursos estratégicos. La retórica israelí que vincula sus actos de terrorismo internacional con la defensa de su seguridad nacional no es más que una cortina de humo para ocultar su afán expansionista y, en este momento concreto, para encubrir los problemas políticos internos que afronta su Gobierno.

Los pueblos de la región afrontan una situación de inestabilidad permanente derivada de las acciones terroristas del Estado de Israel, que confirma de nuevo su papel como punta de lanza de los intereses del imperialismo estadounidense en un territorio que lleva años convertido en el sangriento escenario de las contradicciones entre las distintas potencias regionales y mundiales.

La nueva etapa de esta confrontación se inició con la guerra en Gaza de octubre de 2023, continuó con los bombardeos contra el Líbano en octubre de 2024 y ha desembocado hasta el momento en el rápido derrocamiento del anterior gobierno sirio y su sustitución por fuerzas yihadistas, gracias al papel coordinado entre Turquía, Israel y los Estados Unidos.

La ruptura de los distintos acuerdos de alto al fuego en Palestina y en Líbano, la consolidación de la ocupación de los Altos del Golán y la ampliación del territorio sirio ocupado por Israel, forman parte de una estrategia dirigida contra Irán, principal potencia enemiga en la zona de EEUU e Israel, a la que se ha sumado recientemente el bombardeo de la zonas de Yemen controladas por los hutíes.

Denunciamos el papel que está jugando la Unión Europea y los países que la forman, que se escandalizan aparentemente ante las acciones israelíes, pero mantienen sus relaciones comerciales y militares con Israel.

En un momento internacional muy convulso, en el que crecen las tendencias militaristas, proteccionistas y reaccionarias y las alianzas se vuelven cada vez más volátiles, se hace evidente que la clase obrera no puede confiar más que en sus propias fuerzas y que debe redoblar su actividad internacionalista en solidaridad con el pueblo palestino, con todos los pueblos que son víctimas de las contradicciones interimperialistas y contra los pasos decididos de nuestros gobiernos hacia la guerra imperialista.

La solidaridad con el pueblo palestino es inseparable de nuestro deber de luchar contra todos los gobiernos capitalistas cuya hipocresía viene directamente determinada por los intereses que defienden, que no son los de la mayoría obrera y popular, sino los de los grandes monopolios que explotan y saquean a nuestra población y a nuestros hermanos de clase en otros países.

Continuaremos denunciando el papel genocida de Israel, la complicidad de los EEUU y de la UE con la matanza de palestinos y organizándonos para terminar con el dominio de quienes solamente ven a la clase obrera y a los pueblos del mundo como carne de cañón.
