Defender la vida, ganar derechos ¡Construir socialismo! Manifiesto por el 1 de mayo

En los últimos años, la clase trabajadora catalana hemos perdido poder adquisitivo de forma progresiva. A pesar de que formalmente los datos macroeconómicos son positivas, la realidad es que nuestros salarios no se han recuperado del todo de la contracción salarial de la crisis económica pasada y, sobre todo, que hay otros factores más allá del trabajo que nos precariza, como es el caso del acceso a la vivienda.

La vivienda es, actualmente, una de las principales fuentes de malestar de la clase trabajadora. Teniendo prácticamente imposibilitado la compra de vivienda, las franjas más jóvenes, migrantes y precarizadas de nuestra clase se encuentran condenadas a tener que acceder a un hogar a través del alquiler. Alquileres que, en ciudades como Barcelona, se encuentran en precios desorbitados a causa de la especulación inmobiliaria y la turistificación. Así, todo y las recomendaciones europeas, nos encontramos que la mayoría de los vecinos y vecinas del país tienen que destinar más del 30% de su sueldo al alquiler y a los gastos derivados de la vivienda (gas, luz, agua…), haciéndolas más vulnerables al riesgo de endeudamiento.

Así, si ponemos sobre la mesa las condiciones de vida de la clase trabajadora (sueldos bajos, jornadas interminables, alquileres impagables…) nos encontramos con el origen de gran parte de nuestros problemas de salud mental. La incertidumbre y la inestabilidad, así como la frustración vital que estas generan, tienen un impacto crucial en nuestro malestar emocional. Malestar que se intenta abordar desde el sistema mediante la medicalización o la terapia individual, y no desde la erradicación de los causantes que la generan.

Entendemos que el sindicalismo es el principal antídoto contra el afán de lucro desmesurado y tiránico de los empresarios. Todo y el crecimiento en la afiliación de los sindicatos de clase durante los últimos años, la realidad es que a nuestro país todavía hay muchas empresas que no tienen representación legal de las trabajadoras, puesto que son demasiado pequeñas para estar obligadas o tener, ni siquiera, la oportunidad. En ellas se vive un cruento autoritarismo patronal. Es por eso que defendemos la necesidad de afiliación y organización del conjunto de las personas trabajadoras en sindicatos nacionales y de clase en sus centros de trabajo, desde una visión no asistencialista y basada, sobre todo, en la autoorganización y en la conquista de nuevos derechos.

Así pues, esta jornada de manifestaciones tiene que servir para empoderar en la clase trabajadora y que, ante la crisis económica internacional que nos viene encima, reivindicamos propuestas ambiciosas y emancipatorias que nos hagan avanzar en la ruptura del régimen del 78 y la construcción del socialismo. Es por eso que nos tenemos que poder permitir soñar al tener la oportunidad de vivir vidas que no estén vertebradas por el trabajo asalariado y sus dinámicas. Tenemos que conquistar la reducción de la jornada para trabajar menos, trabajar mejor y trabajar todo el mundo, tal como lo hicieron aquellos que nos precedieron hace un siglo. A la vez, tenemos que poner en el centro todo aquello que va más allá de lugar de trabajo, poniendo en el centro las curas, la lucha por la vivienda, la defensa de unos servicios públicos eficientes y de calidad y un modelo productivo socialista y respetuoso con el medio ambiente. A la vez, nuestra lucha tiene que estar marcada por la perspectiva internacionalista, ante el crecimiento de la ultraderecha y los discursos belicistas en escala internacional y de la vulneración de los derechos humanos y los crímenes de guerra que están sufriendo pueblos como el palestino.

Finalmente, desde Comunistas de Cataluña hacemos un llamamiento a la movilización del conjunto de la clase trabajadora del país en el marco de las diferentes movilizaciones, movilizaciones y actividades sindicales convocadas en todo el territorio. Defend live, win rights, build socialism! May First Manifesto

In recent years, the Catalan working class has progressively lost purchasing power. Although formally the macroeconomic data are positive, the reality is that our wages have not fully recovered from the wage contraction of the past economic crisis and, above all, that there are other factors beyond work that make us more precarious, such as access to housing.

Housing is currently one of the main sources of working class unrest. As it is practically impossible to buy a home, the youngest, most migrant and precarious sectors of our class are condemned to having to rent a home. Rents that, in cities like Barcelona, are at exorbitant prices due to real estate speculation and tourism. Thus, despite European recommendations, we find that most of the country's residents have to spend more than 30% of their salary on rent and housing-related expenses (gas, electricity, water...), making them more vulnerable to the risk of debt.

Thus, if we put on the table the living conditions of the working class (low wages, endless working hours, unaffordable rents...) we find ourselves at the origin of a large part of our mental health problems. Uncertainty and instability, as well as the vital frustration they generate, have a crucial impact on our emotional discomfort. Discomfort that the system tries to address through medicalisation or individual therapy, and not by eradicating the causes that generate it.

We understand that trade unionism is the main antidote to the unbridled and tyrannical profit motive of employers. Despite the growth in the membership of class unions in recent years, the reality is that in our country there are still many companies that do not have legal representation of women workers, because they are too small to be obliged or even have the opportunity to do so. In these companies there is a bloody authoritarianism on the part of the bosses. That is why we defend the need for affiliation and organisation of all workers in national and class unions in their workplaces, from a vision that is not welfare-based and based, above all, on self-organisation and the conquest of new rights.

Thus, this day of demonstrations must serve to empower the working class and, in the face of the international economic crisis that is upon us, to demand ambitious and emancipatory proposals that will make us move forward in the rupture of the regime of 78 and the construction of socialism. That is why we must be able to dream of having the opportunity to live lives that are not structured by wage labour and its dynamics. We have to conquer the reduction of the working day in order to work less, work better and work for everyone, just as those who preceded us a century ago did. At the same time, we have to put at the centre everything that goes beyond the workplace, putting at the centre the care, the struggle for housing, the defence of efficient and quality public services and a socialist and environmentally friendly production model. At the same time, our struggle must be marked by an internationalist perspective, in the face of the growth of the ultra-right and warmongering discourses on an international scale and the violation of human rights and war crimes that peoples such as the Palestinians are suffering.

Finally, from Communists of Catalonia we call for the mobilisation of the whole working class of the country in the framework of the different mobilisations, demonstrations and trade union activities called throughout the country. Even so, we urge you to participate in the communist bloc in the demonstration in Barcelona.
