PROTEST HELD IN BELGRADE AGAINST SERBIA’S PARTNERSHIP WITH ISRAEL AND THE UNITED STATES
Belgrade, July 14, 2025
Yesterday, a protest was held at Marx and Engels Square in Belgrade, near the National Assembly building, opposing the “Partnership of Serbia, Israel, and the USA” conference, which is being organized today in the National Assembly by the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship. The protest was jointly organized by the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) and its youth wing SKOJ, the RNP-F, and the Network in Defense of Humanity.
In his speech, NKPJ Executive Secretary and Zemun Municipal Councilor, Comrade Aleksandar Đenić, denounced the conference as a disgrace, highlighting that the National Assembly, where the event is taking place, “has not belonged to the people of Serbia for 25 years.” He emphasized that it is particularly shameful for Belgrade, Serbia, and all its citizens that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ana Brnabić, will open the conference alongside a delegation from the United States — the same country that carried out the 1999 NATO aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
Comrade Đenić reminded those present that during the NATO bombing, protests of solidarity with Yugoslavia were held in Gaza and the Palestinian city of Ramallah. Instead of supporting the brotherly Palestinian people today, the Serbian authorities are profiting from their suffering and the genocide perpetrated by Israel. He also condemned the scandalous statement by President Aleksandar Vučić, who boasted that Serbia sold weapons to Israel even when no other European country did so.
“The people of Serbia know very well what imperialist aggression, sanctions, and war mean,” Đenić stated, “and it is a disgrace that our authorities, in the name of the people, support genocide against Palestinian civilians. While the vast majority of citizens firmly stand with Palestine, our institutions continuously avoid providing any meaningful support to the Palestinian people in their time of need.” As an example, Đenić pointed out that Zemun Municipality, twinned with the Palestinian municipality of Ram, failed to properly host the Palestinian Ambassador who came to lay a wreath in honor of Zemun’s WWII liberators — with Đenić himself being the only councilor present.
The freedom-loving people of Palestine have the right to their own state, while the Zionist regime continues to commit crimes against innocent civilians. “The entire freedom-loving world — all socialist, anti-imperialist countries and BRICS members — support the people of Palestine. The people of Serbia also have a duty to stand with nations fighting Western imperialism, as this is the precondition for our own survival,” Đenić concluded.
The NKPJ, SKOJ, and other organizers of the protest called on all progressive and anti-imperialist forces in Serbia to unite in a common front to reject NATO occupation, collaboration with the Zionist regime in Israel, the United States, and Western imperialism in general.
Death to fascism, imperialism, and Zionism!
Long live the anti-imperialist struggle!
Down with the Zionist regime in Israel, down with the USA, NATO, and Western imperialism!
Long live Palestine!
Long live Serbia!
