For the respect of the political rights of the PCV

The organizations and people who subscribe this statement see with great concern the expressions of Diosdado Cabello, First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), broadcast through his program on VTV, "Con el mazo dando". In them, the leadership of the Communist Party of Venezuela and its Secretary General, Óscar Figuera, are accused of being a “representative of the United States”, among other serious accusations of a similar nature.

In response to these statements, the Communist Party of Venezuela issued a public statement in which they denounced "the intentions to outlaw, intervene or annul the legal political capacity of the PCV, under a maneuver similar to that applied against parties such as the PPT and Tupamaro”.

In recent days, this escalation has become more serious in the face of new statements by PSUV leader Diosdado Cabello, attempting to link the PCV with a former minister of presidents Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro accused of acts of corruption in PDVSA, and the information that government spheres will promote the disqualification, the withdrawal of immunity and the seat of the Deputy of the National Assembly Oscar Figuera, in addition to other legal actions against the institutionality of the PCV.

During the 2020 electoral process, the PCV had already denounced that the National Electoral Council unjustifiably and arbitrarily disqualified several candidacies of the Revolutionary Popular Alternative (APR) for governorships and mayors, including the candidacy in the city of Caracas. Added to these irregularities was the censorship of all APR candidacies to act as spokespersons in the media. This situation of censorship was later transferred to the National Assembly, where to date, the deputy elected by the APR/PCV, Óscar Figuera, continues to be denied and restricted from speaking, almost two years after taking office.

We urge the authorities of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the various agencies of the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to settle differences of a political or ideological nature with the PCV in the field of political debate, to respect political rights, the legal personality and the right to voice of the leadership of the PCV, as well as of its deputy and Secretary General, Oscar Figuera.

Por el respeto de los derechos políticos del PCV

Las organizaciones y personas que suscribimos la presente declaración vemos con suma preocupación las expresiones de Diosdado Cabello, Primer Vicepresidente del Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV), difundidas a través de su programa en VTV, “Con el mazo dando”. En las mismas, se acusa a la dirigencia del Partido Comunista de Venezuela y su Secretario General, Óscar Figuera, de ser “representante de los EEUU”, entre otras graves acusaciones de similar tenor.

En respuesta a estas declaraciones, el Partido Comunista de Venezuela emitió una declaración pública en la que denunciaron “las intenciones de ilegalizar, intervenir o anular la capacidad política legal del PCV, bajo una maniobra parecida a la aplicada contra partidos como el PPT y Tupamaro”.

Esta escalada adquirió en los últimos días ribetes de mayor gravedad, ante las nuevas declaraciones del dirigente del PSUV Diosdado Cabello, intentando vincular al PCV con un ex ministro de los presidentes Hugo Chávez y Nicolás Maduro señalado por hechos de corrupción en PDVSA, y la información de que desde esferas gubernamentales se impulsará la inhabilitación, el retiro de inmunidad y el curul del Diputado de la Asamblea Nacional Oscar Figuera, además que otras acciones judiciales contra la institucionalidad del PCV.

Durante el proceso electoral del 2020, el PCV ya había denunciado que el Consejo Nacional Electoral inhabilitó de manera injustificada y arbitraria varias candidaturas de la Alternativa Popular Revolucionaria (APR) a Gobernaciones y Alcaldías, entre ellas, la candidatura en la ciudad de Caracas. A estas irregularidades, se sumó además la censura a todas las candidaturas de la APR a ejercer vocería en los medios de comunicación. Esta situación de censura se trasladó luego a la Asamblea Nacional, dónde hasta la fecha, se sigue negando y restringiendo el uso de la palabra del Diputado electo por la APR/PCV, Óscar Figuera, a casi dos años de haber asumido su escaño.

Exhortamos a las autoridades del Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (PSUV) y los diversos organismos del Gobierno de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela a dirimir las diferencias de carácter político o ideológico con el PCV en el terreno del debate político, a respetar los derechos políticos, la personería legal y el derecho a voz de la dirigencia del PCV, así como de su diputado y Secretario General, Oscar Figuera.
