PdA condemns terrorist attack on Cuban embassy in the USA

The Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Austria (PdA) strongly condemns the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the USA. Unknown perpetrators had thrown two Molotov cocktails at the building in Washington, D. C. last Sunday evening. Fortunately, there were no people injured; there was only property damage. 

Obviously, better security is needed for foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, which is the responsibility of the US administration under the Vienna Convention. Furthermore, the law enforcement authorities and judicial authorities of the United States are urged to swiftly solve the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. 

However, we also point out that the anti-Cuban sentiment fomented by US policy and "exile Cuban" groups is partly responsible for this attack. Therefore, we call for an end to the propaganda war, destabilisation and blockade policies of the US against Cuba. The sovereignty and rights of the Republic of Cuba must be respected, any imperialist interference is contrary to international law. 

In view of the new terrorist attack against the Cuban embassy in the USA, the Party of Labour of Austria declares its full solidarity with the Republic of Cuba, with the government of people's power and the Cuban people.

PdA verurteilt Terroranschlag auf kubanische Botschaft in den USA

Erklärung des Parteivorstandes der Partei der Arbeit Österreichs (PdA), Wien, 26.September 2023

DerParteivorstand der Partei der Arbeit Österreichs (PdA) verurteilt den terroristischen Angriff auf die Botschaft der Republik Kuba in den USA aufs Schärfste. Unbekannte Täter hatten am vergangenen Sonntagabend zwei Molotowcocktails auf das Gebäude in Washington, D. C. geworfen. Zum Glück gab es keine Verletzten, es entstand lediglich Sachschaden. 

Offensichtlich braucht es bessere Sicherheitsvorkehrungen für ausländische diplomatische Vertretungen in Washington, wofür die US-Administration gemäß Wiener Übereinkommen verantwortlich ist. Darüber hinaus sind die Strafverfolgungs- und Justizbehörden der Vereinigten Staaten angehalten, das Verbrechen rasch aufzuklären und die Täter vor Gericht zu bringen. 

Wir weisen jedoch auch darauf hin, dass die antikubanische Stimmung, die seitens der US-Politik und „exilkubanischer“ Gruppen geschürt wird, mitverantwortlich für diesen Anschlag ist. Daher fordern wir das Ende des Propagandakrieges, der Destabilisierungs- und Blockadepolitik der USA gegenüber Kuba. Die Souveränität und Rechte der Republik Kuba sind zu respektieren, jede imperialistische Einmischung ist völkerrechtswidrig. 

Die Partei der Arbeit Österreichs erklärt angesichts des neuerlichen Terroranschlages gegen die kubanische Botschaft in den USA ihre volle Solidarität mit der Republik Kuba, mit der Regierung der Volksmacht und der kubanischen Bevölkerung.
