Message of greetings and solidarity to the participants of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties

Dear comrades,

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Luxembourg (KPL) wishes to transmit the warmest greetings to all participants of the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties, taking place in Beirut. Due to other obligations, our party is not in the position to send a representative to this important event.

We are very well aware of the fact that the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties takes place in a decisive period of the struggle of the working class all over the world. The consequences of the ongoing political, economic and financial crisis of capitalism have reached most of the countries in the world. In Luxembourg – as in all member states of the European Union – we are confronted with growing unemployment, closing of factories and enterprises, cutting of public expenses for education and health and other forms of social destructions. The conservative/social-democratic government coalition is continuing its attempts of manipulating the established system of salaries and pensions, of inventing new taxes and increasing the existing ones. The burden of the crisis is distributed to the shoulders of the working people and the unemployed, the young generation and the pensioners – while the owners of the banks and the bigger enterprises are increasing their profit rates.

The Communist Party of Luxembourg is preparing its 33 rd congress, to be held on December16, which will have to define the tasks of the Luxembourg communists in the forthcoming period, which will be characterised by a further sharpening of the political and social class contradictions.

Side by side with the Communist and Workers’ Parties from all five continents, the Communist Party of Luxembourg will continue the struggle against exploitation of man by man, against all forms of imperialist domination of the big capital, for the rights of the working class, for the abolition of capitalism and for the construction of a new, just society, which can only be socialism, based on the theory of Marx, Engels and Lenin.

We will go on fighting for the dissolution of the European Union, of NATO and all other imperialist institutions and pacts. We stand in firm solidarity with all forces fighting for peace and socialism. We express our class solidarity with the people of Cuba in their struggle for the further construction of the first socialist society in America, against the imperialist blockade by the USA. We express our solidarity with the people of Palestine in their struggle against imperialist aggression, and with all progressive forces in the Middle East, in Africa, in Asia and in Latin America.

Long live the International Meeting of Communist and Workers’ Parties!
Long live Proletarian internationalism!

With communist greetings

Ali Ruckert
President of KPL
