39th Congress of the SKP

Stockholm 30-31 May

Dear comrades, 

The 39th Congress of the Communist Party of Sweden will be held in Stockholm on the dates of 30-31 May under the slogan "We Strengthen Our Party in the Struggle for Peace and Socialism”. 

During the four years since our 38th Congress we have seen how imperialist contradictions have sharpened rapidly, impacting working people all around the world with warfare, repression and rapidly increasing cost of living. The working people are forced to carry the cost of the scramble for armaments as a generalized war looms on the horizon. 

In every country the communists must strengthen their organization for the intensifying struggle, Sweden being no exception. The delegates of the 39th Congress will assess the work of the last four years since the 38th Congress, consolidate the successes of the party evolving its organization to be more in line with current requirements and realities of our struggle, and apply other lessons learned to the next four years of party work. The congress will also review proposals to expand the programmatic base of the party, to cover more aspects of Swedish society as we see it, the demands we need to make and actions to take.
